Aujourd'hui a marqué la première journée de rentrée pour nos incroyables participants, et quelle journée ce fut ! 🎉
Les quatre groupes ont passé la journée à faire connaissance, à rencontrer le personnel et à explorer le Centre À pas de géant ainsi que le quartier environnant. C’est le début d’un voyage passionnant, rempli d'apprentissages, de croissance et de nouvelles amitiés.
Nous avons hâte de voir ce que cette année réserve à nos participants ! Faisons de cette année une réussite ensemble !

Today marked the first day back for our incredible participants, and what a day it was! 🎉
The four groups spent the day getting to know each other, meeting the staff, and exploring the Giant Steps Centre and the surrounding neighbourhood. It’s the beginning of an exciting journey, filled with learning, growth, and new friendships.
We can't wait to see what this year has in store for our participants! Let’s make it a fantastic year together!

"Higher education: "In France, we need the same recognition for professional and academic training", says Martin Hirsh, Galileo Global Education
High school students have until March 14 to formulate their wishes on the Parcoursup platform. Martin Hirsch, vice-president of Galileo Global Education, the world's leading private higher education provider, is the guest of franceinfo.
Parcoursup has been widely criticized for being too unpredictable, too selective and unfair. A report has put forward a number of suggestions for improvement, notably concerning the supervision of private courses, which account for a fifth of the supply. Among them is the proposal that only courses whose pedagogical quality is guaranteed by the State should be registered on the platform, and that courses that do not meet these quality criteria should be withdrawn.
Martin Hirsch is Vice-Chairman of Galileo Global Education, the world's number one provider of private higher education, with over 200,000 students in schools in some fifteen countries. These include the Cours Florent, Paris School of Business and ESG.
Martin Hirsch: Today, Parcoursup concerns us relatively little, since the platform is primarily designed for university and public courses. It's compulsory for private courses recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education, but not for vocational courses recognized by the Ministry of Labor. Yet this is the case for most of our training courses.
Of course, I think that 100% of people are in favor of improving Parcoursup, even if it has been a step forward. However, the report also states that 83% of users, i.e. students, find it stressful, so there is obviously room for improvement.
On a broader level, private higher education can be a bit of a jungle. Some establishments are not always very honest. What can be done to improve both control and supply? In particular, the Ministry of Education is working on a quality label.
Then there are the things that schools do themselves. For example, we commissioned an independent institute to carry out a satisfaction survey on 3,000 of our students selected at random. We have 19,000 work-study students in France. So we wanted to know whether we were delivering quality teaching, whether they were satisfied with it, and whether the combination of what they were doing in their company half-time and the courses they were taking in the other half of their time matched up."

The Extended Summer Break and Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai’s Birth Anniversary: The Impact on Education and Responsibility of Private School Associations.
The Government of Sindh has declared an additional school holiday on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai on 20th August, 2024.
This decision, while intended to honor a significant cultural figure, has sparked considerable debate about its impact on education, particularly following an already prolonged summer break.
Private school association should voice their concerns and take some serious action in response to this holiday.
The Educational Disruption:
The additional break, added to an already lengthy summer vacation, has led to a series of complications for the educational sector.
Schools, which are often struggling to meet the academic requirements within a limited time frame, now face further interruptions.
The cumulative effect of multiple breaks throughout the year can contribute to a widening gap in academic achievement, especially in regions where educational resources are already scarce, specially in Sindh.
Private School Association:
In light of these challenges, private school association should express their dissatisfaction with the government’s decision. These associations should argue that frequent and extended holidays undermine the educational process and negatively impact student.
They should have emphasize that while cultural observances are important, the frequency and timing of such breaks need to be carefully balanced with academic priorities.
Sum up:
The crux of the issue lies in finding a balance between honoring cultural heritage and ensuring educational effectiveness. It’s essential for the government to collaborate with educational stakeholders to develop a calendar that accommodates both cultural observances and academic needs. Integrating cultural education into the curriculum or holding special events during school hours could be effective alternatives that provide meaningful recognition without disrupting academic progress.
In the meantime, private school associations should address the importance of such concerns to ensure that educational priorities are not overshadowed by well-intentioned but potentially disruptive policies.
