100 Women Davos Heads to UNGA 2024! 100 Women Davos will be present during the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week from September 23rd to 27th, 2024. 📌We will be contributing to our voices on the transformative actions needed to accelerate progress towards advancing the SDGs particularly on women’s leadership, technology innovation for gender equality, and climate change action. 📌As Action Coalition commitment makers, we are accredited for the Summit of the Future and will attend the Generation Equality events where our community of influential women leaders will join trailblazer leaders and organizations collaborating for impact, and lending our voices to critical conversations that matter. 📌You’ll find also find us at key private sector initiatives including Goals House , The Wall Street Journal and Milken Institute and other fora convening leaders. 📌We will once again convene our community around common belief in the power of women’s leadership to drive change. Why Girls in Sports Become Leaders : The Stats You Need to Know 📊 -80% of female Fortune 500 CEOs played sports in their formative years, highlighting the impact of early exposure to sports on leadership development. ( https://lnkd.in/dAeTWDiS) - A Deloitte report reveals that: ‣ 85% of women who played sports as children attribute their professional success to skills developed through sports. (https://lnkd.in/dHeW_aed ) ‣ 91% of women in leadership roles and 93% of high-earning women (USD 100,000+) credit sports for their success. - Global audiences agree: 92% believe it's important for girls to play sports, with 61% considering it "very important". - Despite this, girls drop out of sports at twice the rate of boys by age 14 due to societal expectations and lack of investment in quality programs. - The need for safe and supportive environments: 21% of female professional athletes have experienced sexual abuse in childhood sports, compared to 11% of male athletes. - Women athletes as role models: ‣ Media coverage of female athletes has tripled in three years, but still lags behind male athletes (16% of total sports coverage). ‣ 88% of sports fans see pro women athletes as impactful role models for young women. ‣ Fans are 2.8 times more likely to purchase products recommended by woman athletes. ‣ Female athletes have a 14% larger social media following than male athletes and saw a 4% increase in Google news searches in 2023. Women were also more likely to be described as "lucky" or “connected” rather than "competent". 📌A study by the Harvard Business Review (2018) found that women are held to higher standards than men and are more likely to be criticized for mistakes, perpetuating the perception of lesser competence.
