🤝Partnership is a regulatory pillar at the ODPA. International cooperation expands our capacity to take action and amplifies the impacts of those actions as we serve the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Bailiwick of Guernsey Data Protection Commissioner Brent Homan signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Commissioner of Data Protection at Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) Sami Mohammed at the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) in Jersey which is taking place all week. 💡 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/egghDR5M

Our Commissioner Brent Homan took part in this week's International Enforcement Working Group (IEWG) Panel on ‘Setting Priorities’ at the Global Privacy Assembly (GPA) in Jersey. The discussion, moderated by Deputy Commissioner Rachel Masterton, highlighted the importance of strategic prioritisation in data protection and privacy enforcement. Our Commissioner emphasised the need for a balanced approach that considers both regulatory requirements and the evolving landscape of data privacy. “Data protection authorities (DPAs) across the global have wide mandates and need to set clear priorities to achieve positive outcomes for their citizens, within often limited resources”, Rachel said. “The panel shared their experience that DPAs can use to expand their capacity and maximise their impact”. We are proud to be part of such a dynamic and forward-thinking community, and we look forward to implementing insights gained from this panel discussion to better serve and protect the privacy rights of individuals in Guernsey. Stay tuned for more updates from GPA Jersey '24! Sami Mohammed Steve Wood Patricia Kosseim Philippe Dufresne #DataPrivacy #GPAJersey24 #ODPAGuernsey #PrivacyMatters #SettingPriorities

In our session, Senior Investigator Edward Chapman and Breach Intake and Cyber Specialist Thomas Elliott share actionable guidance on both breach prevention and how to respond to a breach. It's also a great opportunity to hear Professor Sarah Morris's insights about advances in cybersecurity and data ethics.
