AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine was crowned the Best Company in Corporate Social Responsibility across all sectors at the 21st Edition of the Ghana Club 100 Awards held on Friday, 25 October 2024 at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel. Additionally, Iduapriem Mine placed 8th among the top 100 companies in Ghana. These significant achievements reflect our commitment to making positive impacts in the communities in which we operate. The awards further underscore the immeasurable contributions of our dedicated team and cherished stakeholders who continue to play crucial roles in fulfilment of our purpose of mining to empower people and advance societies.   Organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), the Ghana Club 100 Awards ranks the top 100 companies in Ghana based on size, growth, corporate social investments, and profitability. We kicked off our 2024 Breast and Prostate Cancer Awareness campaign yesterday, October 15, under the theme: “No One Should Face Prostate/Breast Cancer Alone.” As part of the activities, we have rolled out breast and prostate cancer sensitization and screening exercises for employees and contractors, host communities, and senior high schools in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, running until the end of October 2024. Speaking at the launch, our Acting Managing Director, Abraham Osei Badu, reminded employees and contractors of the collective responsibility to raise awareness, encourage early screening, and support one another through the challenges of breast and prostate cancer. He especially encouraged men above 40 years to visit any health facility to screen for early detection and treatment of prostate cancer. Remember, breast and prostate cancer awareness is not just a month-long event. TBT: In keeping with our purpose of mining to empower people and advance societies, we partnered with the Queenmother of Wassa Fiase Traditional Area, Nana Abena Kunadjoa II, to organize a capacity building workshop for queenmothers and women leaders within the Wassa Fiase Traditional Area on Friday, 27 September 2024. The workshop was held under the theme: “Becoming an Effective Leader.” It was aimed at equipping the over 200 participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to enhance their effectiveness in their roles. Through this capacity-building initiative, the queenmothers and women leaders were empowered to make independent and informed decisions that will drive the development of their respective communities. On Thursday, 26 September 2024, the Chamber of Mines led a 15-member media team to visit Iduapriem Mine. The visit provided a platform for the Mine to highlight its achievements and challenges, particularly in the areas of fiscal policies, corporate social responsibility, and community engagement. As part of our commitment to working actively to mitigate health risks in the workplace, and to respond to community health issues in the areas where we operate, we recently held our quarterly community health outreach at the Akyempim Social Centre. The outreach provided quality healthcare to over 1000 residents from surrounding communities within the Mine's catchment area. A dedicated team of doctors, nurses, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, and lab technicians, drawn from health facilities within the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality, offered free medical services, including general screening, gastrointestinal and respiratory conditions, and specialized services, such as ear, nose, and throat treatment.
