Ensuring food security is at the heart of what rural women do best. According to the FAO, women make up 43% of the global agricultural workforce, and in Ghana, they are 44%. Yet, these women face daunting challenges in accessing the vital resources they need to feed not just their families, but approximately 70% of the Ghanaian population. Rural women need funding, agricultural inputs, education, and market access. By working together, we can break down these barriers, support their livelihoods, and ensure they produce enough nutritious food for everyone. Increased funding is essential. The health of rural women is crucially linked to food production, as many of them work in agriculture. RDF is committed to supporting rural women to ensure their success. During our flagship program for rural women in 2023, AgroWoman 360, we provided breast cancer screenings to over 100 rural women in agriculture in Northern Ghana. With coordinated efforts, we can reach even more women.
