The West African Mining and Power Conference and Exhibition (WAMPOC/WAMPEX) takes place from 5-7 June 2024 at the Accra International Conference Centre in Ghana. Over the years, WAMPOC/WAMPEX has established itself as a major Mining and Power industry forum during which senior Government representatives, key industry executives and influencers from across the African continent and beyond meet to discuss policy, legislation, challenges and market developments. WAMPOC/ WAMPEX is a major forum attracting over 1400 professionals from more than 16 countries making it one of the most important industry meeting places. Conference delegates (Business Executives) and Exhibitors from around the world participate in the event to discuss policy and to showcase latest technologies, innovations and products. The Conference and Exhibition is held in association with the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Ghana Ministry of Lands & Natural Resources, Minerals Commission of Ghana and the Energy Commission of Ghana, thus providing an unrivaled international platform where opportunities are created and business deals are concluded.

Newmont Corporation has appointed its first Ghanaian Managing Director, Abdul Rahman Amoadu FCCA CA EMBA LLM BSc, to lead the company’s business operations in Africa, effective August 1, 2024. Before this appointment, Rahman was the Managing Director for Peru, having also served previously as the South America Regional Chief Finance Officer and the Africa Regional Chief Finance Officer.
