#The hard-talk dialogues at the West African Energy Summit,2024!! " #Driving Global Finance, #Deal Origination and #Local Content... " A few weeks ago, I was invited by the TGS team to attend an event in Ghana called The West African Energy Summit where a few thousand investors, innovators, directors, vice presidents, deputy Ministers of energy, experts, and Energy leaders from around West Africa gathered together to exhibit and discuss #renewable energy, #gas power Initiatives, #global finance, #Local content, #business, and #technology solutions to tackle various aspects of #energy crisis. It was just amazing.!! It almost seemed that the #investors at that three-day Summit could see a lot of opportunities to build #partnerships and #close deals. The real question I asked myself as I engaged in this dialogue was: #how can AFRICA compete? ▪ Whilst the world benefits from the historical extraction of African resources for industrialization, #Africa itself has yet to still benefit from its vast natural resource endowment. ▪ Whilst many #countries race to net zero having benefited from the continent's resources, #Africa is still a low #carbon emitter at 3% of global emissions. ▪ Africa has world-class discovered resources, however commercializing its vast volumes has yet to be realized compared to other regions. #NOW is the time for #Africa to fully harness and benefit from its #oil, #gas, and #natural resources for the socio-economic development of its nations. #Below are some strategic initiatives highlighted: ▪ Africa must be a competitive destination for attractive #investments. ▪ Africa must remove #barriers to development ▪ Africa must improve its #fiscal attractiveness to bridge its significant infrastructure gap. ▪ Africa must foster a robust #domestic gas market ecosystem #AFRICA has no excuses …. #We have no excuses! OGV Group were delighted to speak with Egbert Faibille Jnr - CEO of the Petroleum Commission, Ghana on the final day of the The West African Energy Summit in Accra last week. 🌍 Egbert wanted to highlight: - West Africa is now 'Open for business' and exploring reforms in the regulatory system in order to attract international investment into the energy sector. - West Africa want to use their natural resources to address energy poverty, energy security and fund an energy transition for all. The key takeaway for him was that the passion and belief in West Africa has been re-ignited due to new finance and equity models that are now becoming available and in the coming months we will see these options expand across the region, leading to a brighter energy future for all! #WAES24 #oilandgas #africa #renewableenergy
