Office Building Kifisias 268 Athens by L+DG Lighting Architects The project’s scope is upgrading an existing office building on Kifisias Av, introducing new facades, and upgrading common areas. The fluid and dynamic character of the proposal provides a graceful and modern identity, appropriate for a cutting-edge office building that suits the needs of world-class companies. Sinuous folded-plate fins wrap around the building’s slabs, defining and shading the facades of the upper floors. The fins’ folded aluminum profile changes constantly across their length at the Kifisias corner, presenting an ever-shifting, glimmering play of light and shadows and an impression of the vitality and luxury of the building. The existing façade columns are clad with green Tinos marble The proposed facades offer luminous floor-to-ceiling high glazing. Peltuinum, Italy Prata D'Ansidonia by francesca storaro The archaeological site of the ancient Roman city of Peltuinum has been beautifully illuminated with exciting transitions of white light, under the impeccable lighting design and artistic direction of architect and lighting designer Francesca Storaro, thanks to the Mayor of Prata d’Ansidonia, Paolo Eusani. Founded by the Romans in the 1st century B.C. in the territory previously inhabited by the Vestini, Peltuinum—now part of the municipality of Prata d’Ansidonia, in the province of L’Aquila—played a strategic role in controlling the trade routes linked to transhumance paths. By the turn of the 1st century A.D., the urban area of Peltuinum was strengthened with the construction of a city wall and a monumental area featuring a temple overlooking a large forum and a theater, reflecting the city’s cultural vitality. Francesca Storaro unveils the thinking behind the concept she created: “Its ancient role as a commercial hub in the transhumance road network is the main essence behind the birth of this city: TRANSHUMANCE, the seasonal migration of flocks, herds, and shepherds moving from pastures located in hilly or mountainous areas (in the summer) to those in the plains (in the winter), following the natural paths of the trattoria. The word ‘transhumance’ derives from the verb ‘transumare,’ meaning ‘to cross,’ and ‘to pass over the land.’ It is therefore a PASSAGE, a JOURNEY, a CROSSING, and I wanted to translate this concept through the language of light, to make a journey through the LIGHT itself. The journey through the color temperature is the journey through the white light itself, the transition from the Sun to the Moon, from warm Solar tones to cool Lunar tones. It is a journey, a TRANSHUMANCE OF LIGHT, from Day to Night, from Summer to Winter (the seasons of transhumance), from the Sun to the Moon.” #lightingdesign #lightingdesignmag

Historic Lombard Bridge Hamburg by team licht The Lombardsbrücke in Hamburg is a historical landmark that connects the inner and outer Alster in a central location. Our lighting concept aims to make the newly renovated building shine in new light by combining its historical significance with modern lighting technologies. The basic idea of the concept is the emphasis on the bridge as a harmonious unit, whereby individual details are specifically highlighted. The placement of the luminaires emphasizes the horizontal structure of the bridge, while the vertical illumination of the pillars reinforces their presence in the overall picture. The atmosphere along the balustrade and in the passages creates a deeper perception of the building and emphasizes the bridge as a total architectural work of art. Special attention was paid to the integration of modern technologies and the monument-protected status of the bridge. Supply profiles have been developed that accommodate the technical equipment and luminaires unobtrusively along the bridge. In addition, the historical elements, such as the gas lamps in the passages as well as wall chandeliers and candelabers on the bridge were reconstructed in cooperation with metal builders and glaziers and thus integrated into the lighting concept by monument protection. In terms of lighting, it has been optimized to ensure that the previously free-radiating glass lamps are equipped with a directed light unit, so that as little scattered light as possible enters the sky. The light control allows a fine-tuning of the light intensities as well as light colors to be able to respond to the natural changes of the sandstone. This is done in close cooperation with the Light Advisory Board of the City of Hamburg. Photographer: Timo Sommer #lightingdesign #lightingdesignmag

Marseille Fort Saint Jean 2014 By L'Agence Lumière At nightfall, a "moonlight" atmosphere gradually envelops the fort and plunges it into a poetic night sublimated by the staging of the lighting. Little by little, light becomes "matter"; it plays with shadows and contrasts, projecting the site into a more dreamlike universe and dramatizing the different sequences of the walk through a progressive evolution of lighting—its shades, textures, intensities, etc. During cultural events within the fort, on the Place d'Armes, this evolutionary light gives way to more festive lighting by offering this time polychrome and symbolic paintings. The main part of the project was concentrated on the light itself – as a design material and vector of emotions – and the spearhead of reflection was the notion of discretion: lighting equipment and furniture, as integrated as possible, to make people forget their presence in favor of the luminous emotions and the historical architectural characteristics of the fort just rehabilitated. Battersea Power Station Light Festival London by Light Art Collection Original Project by Speirs Major Light Architecture How does a neglected neighborhood become the talk of the town? Battersea Power Station Development turned to Light Art Collection to create bespoke light art experiences that would attract visitors to London’s newest urban development. Between the 1930s and 1980s, Battersea Power Station supplied up to a fifth of London's electricity at its peak. After decades of disuse, it was purchased for redevelopment with an ambitious vision: to transform the 42-acre heritage site into an exciting new community of homes, retail and hospitality hotspots, cultural venues and open spaces. How could new residents be drawn to the location and convinced of its potential while it was still a huge reconstruction project? LIGHT BRINGS LIFE In our first year working with Battersea Power Station’s in-house curator, we exhibited five pieces from our collection—artworks that were colourful, accessible, and broadly appealing, but would also stand up to the impressive scale of the former Power Station. Our partnership has since expanded along with the development. From placing art in what was essentially a raw reconstruction site in 2020, to designing the integration of light art into a currently fully functional community, we consistently tailor our offering to serve the ever-evolving needs of a growing local population. Sagawa Art Museum Shiga, Japan by Architectural Lighting Group This beautiful museum houses two great existing Japanese artists, Ikuo Hirayama and Churyo Sato. Two wings named after the artists designed over the pond made the museum float on the water. When the sunlight hits the water's surface, it will reflect and move as the wind makes ripples on a underneath of deep eave. At the welcoming entrance, only indirect light sources are located on the entrance, providing a warm glow to the space. For the exhibition spaces, we have carefully designed the ceiling not to show the fixtures exposed. #lightingdesign #lightingdesignmag

NIO House Jinan by LUKSTUDIO Lighting Design by Fang Fang Studio Jinan NIO House is a single traditional-style building located in Kuanhouli Commercial Street. After collaborating with LUKSTUDIO, we first saw the original appearance of the original site without renovation. We are very much looking forward to this project - integrating traditional elements while maintaining a unified image. As a traditional style building with local characteristics of Jinan, we pay special attention to the protection of the cultural heritage building itself in the whole process of design, in the overall architectural lighting approach to the building itself, based on the conventional display surface lighting, emphasizing the front façade lighting, while using a combination of internal and external lighting, the outline of the concealed strip lighting method of mandatory expression of the building's personality and rustic temperament at night. For the high-end new energy brand lighting design needs to take into account both display and experience functions, the indoor lighting part seeks to create a bright and open space feeling, simulate different scene patterns for different space functions, and different lighting methods for different space audiences, and overall create a clean and transparent atmosphere #lightingdesign #lightingdesignmag

A walk to Remember Bangog by Nulty+ The art installation, titled “A Walk to Remember,” invites visitors on a nostalgic journey, designed to awaken emotional connections and evoke treasured memories that Bangkok residents hold for the Punyarachun Building. The journey begins at the Punyarachun Building and concludes at a nearby Si Phraya pier, guiding visitors through an immersive experience. Upon arrival at the Punyarachun Building, guests are greeted by a vibrant and colorful façade lighting display, setting the tone for exploration and embodying the spirit of travel. Each brightly lit balcony represents the diverse cultural and local discoveries encountered during our travels—such as cuisine, scents, and traditional attire. These elements enrich the experience, leaving lasting impressions and fostering lifelong memories. The experience reaches its pinnacle on the ground floor, where the ceiling features a striking installation of colorful hanging nets. These nets symbolize the transformation that occurs within our body and soul through travel, reflecting how individuals are shaped and influenced by their experiences, emerging forever changed by their journeys. At the main building entrance, each guest is presented with a travel brochure and stylized tickets, reminiscent of the human touch once central to our experience in booking domestic or international trips through travel agencies in past generations. With these in hand, visitors embark on their journey, exploring either the interior art exhibition within the building or venturing along the streets to discover predetermined travel attractions DiGidot Technologies supports Lighting Design Magazine #lighting design #lightingdesignmag
