✨ Speaking at #RoutesAsia in Perth today, our Director General, Stefano Baronci, painted an exciting picture of the future of aviation in Asia-Pacific and the Middle East. With passenger traffic in Asia-Pacific set to soar by 10% in 2025 and long-term growth projected at 3.9% annually over the next 30 years, the region is cementing its status as a global aviation powerhouse. By 2053, Asia-Pacific will dominate the skies, claiming 43% of global traffic—an impressive jump from 34.9% in 2023. Meanwhile, the Middle East will remain a key player with an 18.5% share. These regions are already home to nine of the world’s ten fastest-growing aviation markets, making it an attractive aviation market. Our Director General Stefano Baronci had the honour of representing our airport members at the 3rd Regional Aviation Ministers meeting in #Fiji, and contributing to the Suva Declaration. Addressing the critical issues for the sustainable development of aviation in the Pacific Islands, he urged the Honourable Ministers and authorities to: 🔹Develop comprehensive national and regional strategies for air connectivity by collaborating with key aviation stakeholders, including airport operators  🔹Liberalisation of aviation policies to enable market access and competition. 🔹Collaborate with ACI APAC & MID to implement tailored solutions to the region for capacity building across the aviation value chain, such as in the case of the APEX in security successfully delivered for Fiji Airports Company in 2024 🔹Partner on technological advancements in security and safety, incentivising digital systems, emerging technologies, and AI. 🔹Support the ACI Airport Carbon Accreditation programme, the only global standard for carbon management at airports.
