【CLP, BASF, and Envision Energy Sign Long-Term Power Purchase Agreement to Drive Green Transformation】   We are thrilled to announce that CLP, BASF, and Envision Energy signed a 10-year power purchase agreement in Nanjing on 10 October. Through this agreement, CLP will provide renewable energy from our solar projects in Wuxi, Huai’an, and Yangzhou in Jiangsu province, supporting BASF's full adoption of renewable energy at its manufacturing sites in Nanjing, Rudong, and Zhenjiang. Mr Roger Chen, CLP Holdings Managing Director - China, remarked, “CLP is honoured to support the leading chemical company BASF in achieving its net-zero carbon emissions goal. 【Expert Metallurgical Examinations Ensure Seamless Operation of Power Generation】 At CLP Power, our Metallurgy Laboratory plays a critical role in ensuring the seamless operation of power generation units around the clock by meticulously examining and analysing metal components. The daily tasks of engineers in the Laboratory include material verification, lifespan estimation, and failure analysis of metal parts used in power plants. Equipped with advanced techniques and high-tech equipment, the Laboratory inspects both the macro and microstructures of metal components to ensure their safety and applicability, while providing practical recommendations for faulty parts. Phoenix Cheng, an engineer in the Metallurgy Laboratory, pointed out that the Laboratory’s work goes far beyond routine maintenance, requiring a blend of expertise and experience in metallurgy, materials science, mechanical engineering, and chemistry. She also supports long-term planning of power plants by monitoring equipment conditions, developing engineering strategies, conducting performance review and addressing unexpected issues. “Examination procedures can take from a day to several months or even years to complete. 【CLP Power Strives for Accurate Load Forecasting amid Climate Challenges】 In recent years, extreme weather events have become more frequent and severe, posing additional challenges for operating the power system. CLP Power’s System Operation Department plays a crucial role in ensuring accurate power load forecasts by analysing weather data to predict power demand and coordinating with power plants to plan efficient and reliable daily power generation. Lok Chi-ming, Associate Director – Operational Planning and his team continuously monitor changes in power load, and use load estimation models and automatic generation control systems to adjust power output in real time, balancing power supply and demand. “Even minor weather changes can impact power load and extreme weather events pose additional challenges. While we use articial intelligence to process and analyse weather data, human expertise remains indispensable when it comes to unprecedented events like the torrential rainfall that occurred last year, as we lack historical data for reference.,” explains Lok. To enhance the accuracy of the load forecasts, Lok and his team also engage in regular exchanges with the Hong Kong Observatory and make reference to weather data from neighbouring Mainland cities such as Shenzhen and Guangzhou. #loadforecast #weatherdata #climatechange #accurateandreliable #CLPPowerSystemOperation

As the city’s pioneering mobile classroom since 2009, the programme has evolved through 3 generations of vehicles, each offering exclusive, captivating, and immersive learning experiences. To date, around 300,000 students and community members have been engaged with low-carbon adventures on and off the trucks.
