【DHL Hong Kong Air Trade Leading Index (DTI) 2024 Q3】 The Overall Air Trade Index experienced a minor rebound in Q3 2024, achieving its most substantial level since the start of 2024. A significant rise of 7 points brought the index to 42 points in Q3 2024, a notable increase from 35 points in Q2 2024. This quarter's growth was primarily fueled by a surge in Exports, registering an impressive increase of 9 points. Imports also showed a robust expansion, escalating 3 points from 40 in Q2 2024 to 43 in Q3 2024. Recently, the US announced plans to raise import tariffs on certain products or components manufactured in China. Interestingly, 35% of local air traders affected by this new measure plan to raise their prices to offset the extra tariff costs. In the meantime, 70% of local air traders expected an upward pressure in the air freight prices in the second half of 2024 due to the Red Sea crisis. The Thai Government has implemented the collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) on low-value goods (valued below THB 1,500) 🛃 Here's what you need to know 📢 1. A Value-Added Tax (VAT) of 7% of CIF will be applied to de minimis shipments. 2. The Duty-Free status for de minimis shipments will not be impacted. 3. To claim the import VAT as an input tax during VAT collection at the border, importers may need to provide full and correct contact information to receive a VAT invoice. 4. It's crucial to put the importer's name and address on the paperwork, ensuring it aligns with their VAT registration.
