It was a pleasure to collaborate with our partner Japan Platform for Migrant Workers Towards Responsible and Inclusive Society (JP-MIRAI) on a study tour in Thailand earlier this week for 20 representatives from Japanese business and other stakeholders interested in advancing ethical and responsible supply chain and business conduct. As part of the tour, we were also able to connect with our Strategic Partner TAL Apparel Limited to visit one of their Thailand sites, where participants observed how Thai suppliers can implement meaningful #HRDD through #workervoice, capacity building, and partnership with civil society and business actors as part of the larger Inclusive Labor Monitoring (ILM) Action Network. Thank you to all participants for an excellent study tour!

Designing for Lower Waste With some 80% of a product's environmental impact locked in at the initial design stage, fashion designers play a critical role in advancing circularity and more sustainable practices. The Redress Design Award 2024 Finalists have just completed the TAL APPAREL x Redress challenge to create new garments from defective shirts. Their inspirations will not only promote lower waste in the production cycle, but also enhance consumer engagement leading to increased product longevity. #RedressDesignAward #challenge #circularity #sustainability #garmentmanufacturer

Our Redress Design Award 2024 Finalists just completed the TAL Apparel Limited x Redress challenge where they reconstructed defective stock shirt waste into semi-formal garments using low waste design techniques. 🧶 TAL x REDRESS LOW WASTE DESIGN CHALLENGE, Part 1 🧶 Did you know? Over 100 billion garments are produced every year,* and around 15% of fabric intended for these garments end up as waste on the cutting room floor.** Designers have great influence on the circularity of products, to propel a circular economy where materials never become waste, natural resources are regenerated, and responsibility is taken for the product’s entire lifecycle and its impact on the planet. Our Redress Design Award 2024 Finalists were challenged by TAL and Redress to reconstruct pre-consumer defective stock shirt waste into semi-formal garments using low waste design techniques. 🪡 See what insights our judges Rod Henderson, President of TAL Apparel Limited, and Dr. Christina Dean, Founder of Redress and The R Collective have to share with the finalists! Stay tuned to Part 2 of the TAL x Redress Challenge out tomorrow! ONE WEEK TO GO until the Grand Final Fashion Show!
