Last week NEPC met with partners from the 🌎 “LEAD for EcoJustice” ⚖ Project in Andrevlje, Serbia. Located in the heart of 🏞 Fruška Gora National Park 👥 , the setting was perfect to learn about climate change and ecological justice. 👩🔬 🔬 The first half of the event was all about the science of climate change. With the help of expert facilitator and scientist, David Wilgenbus of the Office for Climate Education, our partners had the chance to try their hand at conducting research experiments demonstrating the effects of greenhouse gasses. 🌿 🧠 After an afternoon of mythbusting, we explored the public perception and knowledge on climate change and the effects it has on emotional well-being with the guidance of environmental education specialist Natalie Chong of the Office for Climate Education. Through workshops we acquired insight into our own emotional states and talked about how we can develop and protect a more hopeful outlook on the future. 👩🏫 📣 Finally, with Marina Drndarski, we saw what’s it like to apply principles of sustainability and encourage connecting to nature with school children while teaching. 🤝 A big thank you to everyone who participated, stay tuned to learn more about EcoJustice!
