It is worth taking a few moments to check out our Annual Report 2023. A year of great positive momentum and one in which we celebrated 10 years of industry collaboration. Driving social change together, by year end we had pledged €6.1 million to combat educational disadvantage, creating brighter futures for vulnerable young people and contributing to a more inclusive society. Supporting educational opportunities for children in under resourced communities
About us
basis.point is an initiative by the Irish Fund Industry with a vision to make a sustainable and tangible difference to those living in poverty, particularly young people, by supporting charities that focus on education. The Irish Fund Industry is hugely active in terms of providing financial assistance to those in need and is also tremendously engaged in active volunteerism. This assistance is mainly implemented through the CSR programs of industry firms and mostly takes place ‘under the radar’. basis.point was formed in 2013 (receiving charitable status in 2014), to supplement this very laudable effort and seeks support from all sectors of the industry, in particular, from individuals, corporates and fund promoters. basis.point reached a major milestone in February 2015, when we made our first multi-year grant to the Archways charity to implement the Archways basis.point programme Delivering Incredible Years® in Dublin’s Inner City. This first grant embodies what basis.point is about, helping a program that seeks to improve the lives of children with emotional, social and behavioural difficulties through early collaborative classroom and home intervention. This evidence based program will have a significantly positive impact on the children themselves, their family, friends and school friends and, ultimately, on society as a whole. We continue to seek donations to help basis.point meet our objective of making a real difference to those young people caught in poverty by focusing on enabling education to make a positive impact on their lives. You can help by becoming a patron or a volunteer and as basis.point can only make a difference to the extent it is supported, we urge everyone who has a stake in Ireland’s success as a premier global fund hub to get involved.

Great night celebrating #basispointweek at the Annual Battle of the Firms table quiz. Continuing the Waystone winning ways and fitting end to their Olympic Triple header summer of fundraising for basis.point, their aptly named team The Fast and The Curious: Waystone Drift were clear winners on the night! Northern Trust Asset Servicing Smartinis came in a gallant 2nd place with their team of 3, with Brown Brothers Harriman in 3rd place after a hard fought tie break with Arthur Cox LLP and LEI Worldwide - Legal Entity Identifier. Thanks to everyone for entering into the spirit. A special word of gratitude to our quiz master Sean Buckley, our DJ Niall Dalton, the fantastic team of volunteers from Brown Brothers Harriman and sponsors Maples Group, Matheson LLP and Northern Trust Asset Servicing Full article and picture gallery to follow.

Another great champion for #basispoint week. Lisa Farrelly is one of the fabulous home visitors, from the Early Learning Initiative who are modelling parenting skills with families, from areas of socio economic disadvantage throughout Ireland. These great champions are equipping parents with the skills to ensure that their child develops the language and social skills necessary to be school ready. Research shows that without support, by the age of 4, children from these areas may have a vocabulary as low as 400 words, in contrast to children from professional backgrounds who have on average 1200. If we ignore this gap these children never catch up. Families who participate in the programme achieve an average of 1000 words. Thank you to our Patrons, both corporate and individual, our Supporters, Volunteers and Education Partners. Together we are levelling the playing field so that all children can reach their potential through education. Please consider becoming an individual Patron or Supporter so we can help more young people to reach their potential. Another great #basispointweek success story! This time we hear from Preston Smith, a 17 year old student from Finglas who spoke of his battle to overcome shyness and low self esteem. In his own words, he reluctantly participated in the Foróige Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) programme during transition year. He credits the supports, encouragement and belief instilled in him by his teacher and Foróige mentor, with igniting a love of business. Thank you to our Patrons, both corporate and individual, our Supporters, Volunteers and Education Partners. Together we are enabling young people to find their voice and achieve their goals. Let's have a big show of support for Conor MacGuinness 👏🏻 This weekend Conor laces up his running shoes, joins athletes from around the globe running the iconic Chicago Marathon and raises money to help young people, no matter their background, to reach their educational potential. Waystone are generously matching their donations and have already made great inroads by organising a 75km cycle and 5 km run for industry colleagues earlier this year. Supporting Conor in his fundraising drive is a simple, effective and impactful way to make a difference for future generations. You can track his progress using his bib number 5708. Please give what you can.
