Culture Night 2024 Special: BVOF & RIAM Collaboration 🎼 This week, we celebrated the power of music and emerging talent at the Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (BVOF) and Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM) bursaries concert. The magnificent Whyte Recital Hall at RIAM Dublin was BVOF's 'home from home' for this special event. Bravissimo to all our performers on this special evening: Carolyn Holt, Amy Ní Fhearraigh, Gavan Ring, Rory Lynch, Sean Tester, Patrick Hyland, Dearhbla Collins, Ella Nagy, Savannah Hilterbrandt, Remi Ludick. Huge thanks to Deborah Kelleher and the entire RIAM team for their warm hospitality. Congratulations on the stunning revival of the RIAM performance space – it's truly breathtaking. The concert celebrated the unique collaboration between BVOF and RIAM, supporting young, emerging artists in Ireland through bursaries. We're immensely grateful to our key sponsors and donors for making these bursaries possible. Special mention to our artistic director, Dieter Kaegi, for curating a wonderful programme. We're all back in the school routine! Well done to all students and teachers who returned this week📚✨ Celebrating another fantastic year of our BVOF education outreach programmes Discover Singing and Discover Opera, in partnership with Music Generation Waterfod. Students visited Lismore during Festival Week for the culmination of both programmes- the Discover Opera trail at Lismore Castle which received special coverage from RTE News & RTÉ news2day, and the Discover Singing performance by over 100 children at the official opening of #BVOF2024 in Millennium Park on 28th May this year 🎼✨ Special thanks to Shauna McCullough and the MGW team - Elizabeth Drwal Stuttard, Danny Dunford, Anita Mahon and Conor Clancy, plus our own #BVOF Educational Artists Eilís D., mezzo soprano, and Michael McCartan, bass-baritone, for their super work with the children both in the classroom and in Lismore this year. Thanks to all the incredible teachers, principals, school staff and parents who engaged so wholeheartedly with both programmes, to the The Crann Centre staff and parents for facilitating a visit to our opera trail once again this year and to Lismore Heritage Centre for hosting us for Discover Singing workshops. Another fabulous glimpse of #BVOF2024! ✨👀🎉 We are delighted to share our new video giving a taste of this year’s eight day festival. With our headline opera Giulio Cesare, hailed ‘A success of which Caesar would be proud’ (Arts Desk), and a wide range of concerts and recitals across the Blackwater Valley,  over 5,000 visitors came to enjoy another year of Ireland’s Summer Opera Festival. Handel Giulio Cesare opera, and recitals and concerts, held at 11 historic homes and venues. The festival was made accessible to all with free open-air recitals and educational programmes, and opera dress rehearsals for hundreds of local students and children. 🎶✨ Festival Director Eamonn Carroll said, “The atmosphere all week long was just electric, from the world-class performances to delightful dining experiences, and of course the glorious weather. We were delighted to see people of all ages enjoying the programme of events and welcome both returning visitors and those new to opera and classical music. On #WorldMusicDay today, another beautiful BVOF recital to share with you! 🎶 The Two Tenors 🎶 On Friday, 31 May 2024, we had the pleasure of hosting the RIAM John Pollard Recital at the historic Salterbridge House 🌸🎹🌸. This year, we once again welcomed the recipients of this prestigious annual bursary award. Tenors Rory Lynch and Sean Tester, this year’s recipients, graced us with a sold-out performance, accompanied by pianist Ella Nagy 🎹, a 2023 awardee. The Blackwater Valley Opera Festival (BVOF), the Royal Irish Academy of Music (RIAM), and the John Pollard Foundation celebrated the talents and aspirations of these young musicians through this award.
