Watch artist Sarah Bracken Soper bring the stunning Shine A Light mural to life! Renowned street artist Sarah Bracken Soper recently unveiled a powerful two-storey artwork in Temple Bar, Dublin, highlighting the unseen issue of family homelessness. The mural, depicting two women embracing, serves as a reminder that over 2,000 families and nearly 4,500 children are currently in emergency accommodation. Focus Ireland and Bord Gáis Energy are calling for continued support to help end family homelessness. The #ShineALight campaign aims to raise €1.4m. Recently, our team of Bord Gáis Energy engineers upgraded the heating systems at 11 homes in the Focus Ireland Aylward Green Family Supported Accommodation. This work included installing state-of-the-art boilers and smart heating controls. In total, we have upgraded a total of 24 homes at this facility, providing families with more energy-efficient and comfortable living conditions, while helping to lower their utility bills. This initiative - where we are using our expertise to support communities in need through our charity partner, Focus Ireland - is just one way we're living our purpose to energise a greener, fairer future. #CommunitySupport #Sustainability #EnergyEfficiency #FamilyHomelessness

As we mark our seventh year supporting Shine A Light, we remain deeply committed to raising awareness and increasing fundraising efforts to combat family homelessness. Artist Sarah Bracken Soper’s powerful mural, part of this year’s ‘Unseen but not forgotten’ theme, captures the hidden crisis of family homelessness in Ireland, turning public space into a conversation starter about the urgent need for support. At today’s launch of the mural in Temple Bar, artist Sophie Bracken Soper spoke with the Irish Times about her inspiration for the project. Focus Ireland's LEAP (Lived Experience Ambassador Programme) ambassador Kelle Anne Byrne also shared her personal experience of homelessness, which is poignantly reflected in the artwork. Check it out 👉 https://lnkd.in/gryS5kFD With the national #ShineALight sleepout happening tonight, we encourage business leaders, companies, schools, community groups, and individuals to donate and help make 2024 our most successful year yet. Together, we can raise essential funds for Focus Ireland and work towards ending family homelessness. #UnseenButNotForgotten Donate here ➡ https://lnkd.in/ekM96M_h

Will you do your bit to help end family homelessness this Friday 11 October? We've been supporting Focus Ireland for nearly 10 years now, committing €4.4 million and contributing thousands of volunteer hours to help end family homelessness. Each year, we join the annual Shine A Light sleep out to raise awareness of this critical issue. Elaine Kelly is a People Partner with Bord Gáis Energy and has been a dedicated member of the Focus Ireland steering group since 2016. This year marks the fifth year Elaine has taken part in the Shine A Light sleep out, and she encourages people at all levels of business to get involved, be it through donation or participation, to stand in solidarity with those families and children experiencing homelessness. At Bord Gáis Energy, we’re driven by our purpose to energise a greener, fairer future - it’s a commitment we live by every day. That’s why our partnership with Focus Ireland is so meaningful to us. Last Friday, as proud sponsors of their Lived Experience Ambassador Programme (LEAP), we joined them to celebrate the first set of ambassadors. Former Uachtarán na hÉireann, Mary McAleese, presided over the event and spoke eloquently on the pressing issue of homelessness in Ireland. Taking place in Dublin's City Assembly House, we honoured the incredible achievements of the current ambassadors - Kellyanne, Paul, Stephanie, Scott, and Catherine - who, over the past two years, have courageously shared their stories to raise awareness and inspire change for the 14,486 people currently affected by homelessness in Ireland. We also welcomed new ambassadors - Keile, Des, Al, and James - who will continue this vital work. Since we began partnering with Focus Ireland in 2015, we’ve raised nearly €4.5 million, volunteered over 1,000 days, and directly supported more than 7,500 families at risk of losing their homes. Together, we are making a real difference. #LEAP #EndHomelessness
