EirGrid were delighted to be part of the Irish Delegation with the Maritime Area Regulatory Authority (MARA) and Department of the Environment, Climate and Communications this week on a Study Tour to the Netherlands 🇳🇱 Organised by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Waterworks, based in the Hague, there were very informative and important discussions at RVO Headquarters around marine spatial planning, EIA, permitting, compliance, stakeholder engagement. The delegation also got the opportunity to visit Netherlands TSO TenneT to view their transformer station and to discuss their Offshore Wind Energy Frame-work 🌊💨 The visit also incorporated site visits to Mammoet and GustoMSC in Rotterdam to see at firsthand the large scale infrastructure and ancillary services that are required as we deliver on our offshore renewable energy targets in Ireland ⚡🏗️ Ireland’s Ambassador to the Netherlands, Dr. Ann Derwin kindly hosted the delegation at her Residency emphasising the importance for continued close collaboration between the two countries 🇮🇪 🇳🇱 🌐 #Offshore #OffshoreWind #RenewableEnergy

Last week, EirGrid colleagues were invited to speak as part of a University College Dublin NexSys Seminar series. As a proud partner of NexSys, we were delighted to present the background and methodology that helped prepare and deliver our strategy “Shaping Our Electricity Future” ⚡ 🌍 Next Generation Energy Systems (NexSys) is a collaborative, all-island, multidisciplinary energy re-search programme hosted by the UCD Energy Institute. It works in partnership with institutions including the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), Dublin City University, Queen's University Belfast, University of Galway, Maynooth University, Trinity College Dublin, University College Cork, and Ulster University. At the heart of NexSys are 50 leading academics working in partnership with industry to tackle the challenges of energy decarbonisation, developing evidence-based pathways for a net zero energy system 🌡️🍃 Our team discussed the challenges in developing such a broad consultative strategy and answered questions relating to scenario planning and grid planning, especially regarding how best to engage with key stakeholders. #ShapingOurElectricityFuture #SOEF #TomorrowsEnergyScenarios #TES #Renewables #StakeholdEngagement #EnergyResearch #NetZero

Some really thought-provoking discussions at this morning’s The Irish Times Positive Impacts event focusing on how organisations can accelerate their efforts on climate action 🌡️⚡ Expert panellists, including our very own Chief Corporate Services Officer, Errol Close, spoke about what the Government’s Climate Action Plan means for Irish businesses. There was also insightful discussion on energy security, competitiveness and sustainability reporting in a wider European context, and specific implications for Ireland in these areas 🇪🇺✅ As the main sponsor of this event we were proud to present the award to this year's winner, Donna Gartland, CEO at Codema - Dublin's Energy Agency - Congratulations 🙌 Thank you to The Irish Times for hosting this important event. Collaborative opportunities such as this are invaluable when it comes to achieving climate action targets together 🌐 #IrishTimes #PositiveImpacts #ClimateAction #RenewableEnergy
