As we wrap up week 3 of Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Construction Safety Month, it's time to look back on some of the activities on our sites and in our branches around the country over the past 2 weeks. Week 2 focused on road safety, so we issued a number of Road Safety Authority videos to our teams, focusing on driving in wet conditions, the dangers posed by mobile phones while driving, the dangers of driving in sun glare and also held a driver safety presentation with An Garda Síochána in Naas. This past week kicked off with a video produced in-house on diesel spillages, with the rest of the week focused on safety standdowns from Achill to Castlemartyr and everywhere in between - and we really mean that - Limerick Junction, Drogheda, Knightstown, Murroe, Dunmore/Glenamaddy, Carrickmacross, Tullow, Ballyvaughan and Creagh! Ongoing thanks to our HSQE team for facilitating these events and we look forward to continued high attendances over the next week. #RethinkingWater #ThinkSafeWorkSafeBeSafe

What a incredible set of images to receive! We are proudly committed to our communities across Ireland, the UK and this one in Shirango, Kenya. Images like these really make you appreciate how important water is and that it's a precious resource we can take for granted in the developed world. We have been supporting the Shirango Well Project team in their efforts to drill a borehole for the community for the last few months, from providing technical consultations and training to actual equipment used in the project such as the submersible borehole pump, solar panels, cables, fittings, float switches, MDPE pipe and plastic liners. It was also wonderful to be able to connect the team including Dan Ducey, John Ryan, Pat Barry and others with Derry Desmond of Le Cheile Africa, another organisation we have previously supported who are also making a huge difference in Sagai, Kenya so they could share knowledge and local connections on the ground in Africa. Dan and Pat are pictured with a tree that was planted in the school grounds back in February which is showing great progress and growth since. Our purpose is to safely deliver sustainable water and wastewater to communities and in recent years, we have also aligned with 7 of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. We are truly privileged to be in a position to properly assist and support the hard working volunteers as they work to provide clean water and sanitation to the people of Shirango. #RethinkingWater

What a day we had at the Munster Maths and Science Family Fair at Mallow GAA Sports Complex today! We love attending this annual show as we engage the minds of our future colleagues & STEM students, showing them the practicalities of what we do everyday! All hands on deck with Sinead Browne, Claudia Kennedy, Sharon Fogarty, Anna Kerins, Louise O'Donnell BComm, Vincent Browne and John Fitzgerald taking turns to man the stand between 11am and 4pm. Lots of engagement to report - the freebies, quizzes, puzzles, colouring sheets & the lollipops may have drawn a few over! 🍭 We had lots to showcase this year, Vincent demonstrated how a drinking water sand filter cleans your water, Hyder Aswad and Sharon Manlangit were there to field questions about our solar solutions and this year’s challenging question was to guess how many salt tablets are in our new 10kg bag of eSoft tablets)! Our thanks to Mallow Development Partnership for another well run event! #RethinkingWater

Successes outside the workplace also deserve recognition! So a massive congratulations to John O'Callaghan - who heads up our chemical dosing projects - for his amazing result in Ironman Barcelona at the weekend, completing it in a time of 12hrs 35mins! 👏 Meanwhile, Mallow Tri Club was named Club of the Event - what an incredible result and as a club sponsor, we're over the moon for everyone involved! 🏊♀️ 🚴♂️ 🏃♂️

As we head into week 2 of Construction Industry Federation (CIF) Construction Safety Month, which has a special focus on road safety, we thought we'd take a quick look back at the highlights of week 1. We kicked things off with an introductory webinar by our Managing Director Patrick Buckley, we delivered toolbox talks on site and then the week culminated in a talk with 5 time Olympian walker Rob Heffernan OLY broadcast live from our in-house studio in Mallow. Rob spoke with our HSQE Systems Manager Rose Healy all about mental strength, persevering through hard times and effective communication, team building and motivation. There'll be more on our chat with Rob in due course, but there has been great engagement across our teams and sites all over the country and we're looking forward to more of the same this week. #RethinkingWater #ThinkSafeWorkSafeBeSafe

What a weekend! And this one really proved that we’re connected by much more than work as we sponsored Fermoy RFC’s 2024 tour of North Down where they were warmly welcomed by our good friends at Ards Rugby Club. That’s where the work connection comes in as DPS (Ards) were represented by Gareth Wilson and Alastair Wilson with Tom Fitzgerald and Tom Kenneally flying the EPS flag! The Fermoy gang barely got off the bus on Friday before things kicked off (!) with a training session with international referee Chris Bursby as well as a number of Ulster Rugby’s development and underage coaches and some of the club’s U18/17 and 16 players. Saturday started off with team building of a different sort with abseiling at the Lorne Estate (the team mascot even got in on the action!) before we got stuck back into the rugby with some closely contested games between the Ards U12s & P7 squad. It was time for some culture after all that, so it was off to the peace walls and to the mighty Kingspan Stadium - home of Ulster Rugby. What a fantastic weekend showing the younger generation the lifetime connections you can build through sport and work. Thanks to everyone in both teams for the planning and organisation in advance and over the few days - and to everyone in Ards who were fantastic hosts and made us feel right at home. When’s the return leg?!

Today's Career Fair activity was at Munster Technological University. On this occasion, our Recruitment Coordinator Louise O'Donnell was joined by our Contracts Director John Lynch, UK Operations Manager Michael O'Sullivan and Graduate Engineer Jack O'Donnell as they spread the word about the super career opportunities that we have under our roof! They had really good engagement, fielding questions and extolling the virtues of joining EPS, whether as a graduate or for college placement. We gave them a snapshot into life at EPS, some of the projects we're working on and have delivered, our commitment to continuous professional development, how we're playing our part working towards Net Zero and most importantly, how they can join the ranks! ↪ https://lnkd.in/e2MsQhXu #RethinkingWater #RethinkingRecruitment

Smashing Sponsorship News! We are excited to announce that - in partnership with Ashgrove Renewables - we are national sponsors of Badminton Ireland's BadminTEEN initiative! 🏸 BadminTEEN is a nationwide programme designed to encourage teenage girls to smash their way into a new sport - take up badminton and start their own clubs! Transition year provides the perfect opportunity to learn new skills, stay active and make friends and BadminTEEN has been designed with girls in secondary schools across Ireland in mind, promoting physical activity, leadership and teamwork among young women. Managing Director of EPS Group Patrick Buckley says, “The skills that are learned during BadminTEEN – from learning how to play the game itself to those required to successfully manage and run a club - will stay with the girls for their lifetime, no matter where in world they may end up”. As you’ll see in our promotional video taken during the official launch this month at St. Mary's Secondary School in Mallow, the overall theme was FUN! While Ashgrove's Managing Director Shane Murphy says, “Badminton is a sport close to our family’s heart, so we jumped at the chance to support BadminTEEN. There’s so much reliance on devices and screens these days, it’s fantastic to see girls who had previously had no interest in sporting activities fully embracing the sport”. We are thrilled to be involved in this very worthwhile programme and bringing you updates on the girls’ progress throughout their first year. BadminTEEN in numbers: 📍 15 schools nationwide 📍 ‘000s of girls starting a new sport 📍 2 national sponsors backing them all the way 👉 Find out more: https://lnkd.in/ew9xqiSu #BadminTEEN #BadmintonIreland #RethinkingWater #RethinkingRecreation

Our Service and Repair department (Western Division) recently carried out repair works on a large water treatment plant in Donegal for Uisce Éireann Irish Water. The work, on 75kW motors on 2No KSB Company highlift pumps supplying a large distribution network, was undertaken as preventative maintenance for UÉ. During an initial site survey by our team of experienced maintenance engineers, both motors showed signs of bearing issues resulting in excessive noise and vibration so their immediate course of action was to change the bearings in the electric motors, which we sourced from our large in-house large stock holding. When we initially checked the alignment, it highlighted vertical, horizontal and angular misalignment along with soft foot. The bearings were replaced using a variety of specialist tools including SKF's bearing pullers, TKSA 51 laser alignment kit and an induction bearing heater. This meant that there was no requirement for force, hammering or any unnecessary abuse of the motor or its new bearings. The interference fit drive coupling was also heated using SKF's induction heater which that the coupling slipped on and was then supported until it cooled and gripped the shaft. After re-assembly of the motor, the SKF TKSA 51 laser alignment and shim kit was used to align the motor and pump along with checking for soft foot. The eventual outcome was an extremely smooth running motor and a very happy client! Well done to our team, including Commissioning and Maintenance Engineer Ronan Murrin, Mechanical and Automation Mechanical Fitter Evan Brennan and fitter Padraic Kenny. #RethinkingWater
