Established in 1996, the European Institute of Women’s Health (EIWH) is a non-governmental organisation, promoting gender equity in public health, research and social policies across Europe. The EIWH promotes gender-specific bio-medical and socioeconomic research that addresses sex (biological) and gender (social) based differences to ensure access to quality treatment and care for women across the lifespan. Using an evidence based approach,the EIWH aims to reduce inequalities in health, in particular due to gender, age and socioeconomic status, ethnicity etc by highlighting that gender/sex is an important determinant of health.
