About us
Genspect is an international alliance of parents’ groups and professionals whose aim is to advocate for the parents of gender-questioning children and young people. We are a forward-facing organization that is focused on opening this subject up into the mainstream media. Genspect was set up to give a voice to parents of gender-questioning children and young people. Many parents are concerned that their kids are not receiving appropriate treatment and support; many do not feel free to speak out about their concerns. We are a non-partisan, independent organization, with members hailing from across the political spectrum and holding a range of personal beliefs. Our interest relates exclusively to the well-being and safeguarding of children and young people and does not extend to party-political or religious allegiance. GENSPECT FOCUS Raise Awareness - about the role sexuality may play among young people who are questioning their gender - about the high occurrence of comorbidities and the impact of trauma on identity formation - about the lack of high-quality, peer-reviewed evidence for treatments for gender-questioning young people - about the significant risks of medical interventions that will impact our children for the rest of their lives The Genspect Team Stella O’Malley – psychotherapist, IE Pam Buffon........ Interacting with medical data can be challenging, especially as gender-related activism increasingly influences medical practice and management. This activism has led to structural changes in medical forms, electronic health records, labs, and medications, creating safety and quality concerns for patients and legal pitfalls for clinicians. Understanding these changes, which have scaled exponentially with the adoption of electronic health records, empowers you to navigate the system effectively, whether you are a patient, parent, or clinician. This toolkit provides essential information to ensure safe, quality care in this evolving landscape. https://lnkd.in/gFtzmzqn

Natalya Murakhver of Restore Childhood and Dr. Kris Kaliebe, professor of psychiatry at the University of South Florida to discuss “An Urgent Conversation”, a toolkit designed to help parents and schools move beyond the culture wars towards an evidence-based approach to supporting gender non-conforming kids. A stealth revolution has taken place in America’s schools. Despite “remarkably weak” evidence that pediatric gender medicine helps gender distressed children and young people, school boards and teachers have become complicit in a school-to-clinic pipeline that pushes vulnerable, gender non-conforming kids toward medical transition without the knowledge or consent of their parents. Restore Childhood has created a resource for parents and concerned educators to navigate and decode the scientific evidence on gender medicine and to make the case with local educators, community members, and policymakers to work with parents to make sure children have the opportunity to grow healthy bodies and to reach their fullest developmental potential. https://lnkd.in/gCSWGx8w https://lnkd.in/gwJbaR3t

AUSTRALIA: Implications of the Cass Review for health policy governing gender medicine for Australian minors Conclusions The Cass Review’s findings and recommendations have clear applicability to Australian health policy. As a matter of priority, Australian health authorities need to seriously engage with the Cass Review's findings and recommendations. To not do so will put the health and well-being of vulnerable children and young people at risk. https://lnkd.in/g7GqPf2J
