IDEAM Visit to Zimmer Biomet Shannon 🏭 IDEAM Industry Cluster would like to extend our appreciation to all at Zimmer Biomet Shannon and in particular to Kieran Kelleher (Engineering Services Manager) for hosting an onsite event for Eight of our Industry Cluster members. We would also like to thank Michael O’Malley (Manufacturing Director), Ronan Diviney (Manufacturing Engineering Manager), Evan Glynn (Business Unit Manager ‘Persona Knee’), Angela Gibbons (EHS Manager) and Rob Geary (Program Manager) for the strong interactive session with our members on their experience & capabilities. Our members also had the opportunity to do a tour of the factory floor to see first-hand the process of manufacturing one of the world’s leading Knee replacement  systems, in particular the femoral component (full & partial). This is a great opportunity for our members to understand the requirements of Multinational companies and how #SME can help with the engineering challenges that MNCs face. Today we had the opportunity to delve into a “Digitalisation Journey Video Series.” This initiative, led by IDEAM Cluster in partnership with TUS - Mid West Careers and Employability aims to highlight successful collaborations between academia and industry. The IDEAM team shared their structured approach to documenting these collaborations, offering both a detailed and concise format. They aim to illuminate the specific goals, challenges, and complexities involved in the digital transformation journey. These videos are set to be a valuable tool for all partners involved in collaboration projects, particularly in fostering awareness of process and technology integration in the manufacturing sector. The ultimate goal is to aid in functional digitalisation, process simplification, and the effective use of training resources.
