From all at IoD Ireland, we would like to congratulate member Jillian van Turnhout CDir on her appointment as Chair of the Online Health Taskforce, recently established by Minister for Health, Stephen Donnelly TD. #Leadership #Member
Chartered Director | NED | Former Parliamentarian | Consults on Corporate Governance, Public Affairs & Strategy. Contributing to resilient and successful Boards, bringing Professional Expertise and an Influential Network
Just when I thought my work portfolio was perfectly balanced, life threw me a curveball - in the form of a phone call from Minister Stephen Donnelly. He outlined his concerns about the growing body of evidence from Ireland and internationally, showing the link between online activity and physical and mental health harms, including anxiety, sleep deprivation, eating disorders, self-harm and suicide ideation. His request? To chair the Online Health Task Force, which will bring together a stellar group and a clear timeline for our work. The opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and young people is both exciting and humbling. Together, we can make a difference in this digital age. Why did I say yes? Because this issue is too important to ignore. It's happening on our watch, and we have a responsibility to act. #OnlineHealth #DigitalWellbeing #PublicHealth Find out more here: https://lnkd.in/ecj3-dFX
