It is great to see our members expanding upon the IRISH ASSOCIATION OF INVESTMENT MANAGERS #IAIMTY Programme. It is essential that we highlight the many and varied opportunities the industry has to offer and not only demonstrate how the sector is open to everyone but help young people access it. The more diverse our workforce is with a wide range of perspectives the better we can serve our clients.
Last week, Amundi Ireland launched its first Transition Year academy, in collaboration with Susan HayesCulleton CFA, "The Positive Economist" and Savvy Teens. In Ireland, the Transition Year (TY), is the bridge year between the junior and senior secondary educational cycle, where students focus on personal development and experiential learning. Building on the success of last years’ programme with the IRISH ASSOCIATION OF INVESTMENT MANAGERS and Michael D'Arcy 26 TY students nominated by staff at Amundi, KBI Global Investors and CACEIS, came to our offices to be put through their paces by Susan. At the beginning of the week, they sat shyly in the Paris room waiting nervously for the programme to start. By the end of the week, they had analysed ETF’s, studied investment strategies and asset classes, defended their choice of fund and finally, they stood up and presented their thoughts on Amundi’s social media content on investing to members of the board, and made some suggestions for future enhancements. The programme aims to introduce TY students to the range of careers the Investment Management industry has to offer. Amundi colleagues shared their experiences of how they entered into the industry and their insights on their chosen career. The HR team gave a career development workshop to help prepare for the future. Rupert Fuller also gave a snapshot of the Climate Fresk workshop which examined the causes and effects of climate change. They met Graham Fox who answered questions from the students, sharing his thoughts and experiences. The programme was so much more than the theories and practices of the industry. Their growth throughout the week was incredible. On Monday, we saw one young person struggle to mingle with their peers at lunch. By Friday – they were standing tall with their team, presenting to two members of the board, CEO, David Harte Declan Murray. What a transformation! It is amazing what stepping out of their comfort zone can do. The quality of the presentations and speakers and the ease at which they answered questions, was so impressive. Our aim is to continue this programme in the future, to offer an insight into the world of investment management, and to encourage students to chose it as a field of study and future career. Thanks to all who participated and helped the programme come to life. Thanks to all the parents, aunts and uncles who came to hear the presentations. Special thanks to Niall Doogan, Magdalena Kielak and the facilities team for all the work that goes on behind the scenes. hashtag #Amundi Diversity & Inclusion Ambassadors, Aoife Small, Gillian Finn, Paul Byrne, Kayla Gingles, Sinead McCabe, Louise Gaffney, Laura Martín Romero, Conor Mulvaney, Sarah Austin, Diego Solosna, James Nolan, Oran James, Zak Smith, Niamh Murray, Caroline Egan, Alessandro D'Erme, Gavin McKeown, Lynne Massey, Larry O'Neill , Martina Cocciolillo, Ian Murray, Typhaine Bettler

IRISH ASSOCIATION OF INVESTMENT MANAGERS welcomes the comments from Minister for Finance, Jack Chambers, highlighting the importance of the asset management sector and the Funds Sector Review which the association has fed into. Government has stated that: "The Review will seek to ensure that the funds sector in Ireland is resilient and that the regulatory and supervisory frameworks are future-proofed, supportive of macro-prudential stability, investor protection and consistent with international best-practice standards." We have been engaging with policy-makers, created some new initiatives to increase #collaboration further and look forward to working even more closely with government in the months and years ahead to protect #investors and this important sector for #Ireland. Collaboration between the #assetmanagement industry, #regulators and #government is critical so each can understand different perspectives in order to best serve #investors - largely ordinary #savers and #pensioners. These investors are based all across the world and our members manage these #funds from #Ireland. Our members understand firsthand how well #delegation is working for investors and are ideally placed to demonstrate that to policy makers. We must not lose sight of the end investor and what is in their best interests. Together we must ensure that change is not counter-productive. #assetmanagement #Irishassetmanagement #collaboration #Irelandfundsindustry Central Bank of Ireland Department of Finance Ireland European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA)
During today’s Budget speech, Minister Jack Chambers spoke about the importance of the Asset Management and Funds sector and the review that has been ongoing over the last 18 months or so. This is an important policy initiative here at the Department of Finance Ireland and the Funds Review Team have worked on a number of recommendations that can shape the future development of the sector here. The Minister has recently received the Report from the Funds Review Team and today he signaled his intention is to bring the final report to Government shortly. I look forward to the next phase of this important work. Brian Corr IRISH ASSOCIATION OF INVESTMENT MANAGERS Irish Funds
