What happens when someone is sentenced/remanded to prison? When a person is committed to prison they are brought to the committal area of the prison. Everyone committed to prison is seen by the prison Governor and the Healthcare Team. This allows the individual to share any concerns but also any healthcare needs they may have. #committedtoprison #irishprisonservice #irishprisons #custody #enteringprisons

On October 10th Irish Prison Service Boxing hosted in collaboration with other public bodies and community partners “Rumble of the Services” at the National Stadium. This event featured novice boxers from the Irish Prison Service, An Garda Síochána, Irish Defence Forces, National Ambulance Service, Courts Service and Dublin Fire Brigade. These dedicated individuals have been training tirelessly under the guidance of Olympic gold medallist, Michael Carruth, stepping into the ring to showcase their commitment and teamwork all for a fantastic cause. The “Rumble of the Services” was not just a boxing event; it was an opportunity to support Pieta , a charity dedicated to preventing suicide and self-harm, and supporting those affected by suicide. Events such as this help to raise vital funds for Pieta's essential work. Today at Wheatfield Prison, Governor Jimmy Kelly and Officer Derek Doyle from Irish Prison Service Boxing, along with Amy Kilduff from the Courts Service were delighted to present €17,391.33 to Stephanie Manahan, CEO, and Dee Hayden, Community Fundraising Officer at Pieta House.

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of the European Prison Services Cross Country Championships, the Swedish Prison Service team made sure they marked the occasion by hosting the biggest and most competitive races in the event's history. The course in Sweden was testing, with hard ground, sand, mud and a selection of steep hills that tested every runner to their limits. A special thank you, to Claire Casey and Michael Dooley who, as in previous years, organised this year’s trip. Thanks to Ken Ronan and Colin Norton who drove the team to and from the airport. And also many thanks to IPSSLA for their continued Support. #Europeanprisonservice #CrossCountryChampionships #SwedishPrisonService #IrishPrisonService #IrishPrisonServiceCrossCountry
