This event took place in KPMG’s Innovation Hub, Platform X and featured inspiring keynote speakers Enya O'Connell (Irish Manufacturing Research), Michael Wylde, and Aideen Doyle (CRH). They explored interesting aspects of a circular economy: ✔️AI in a circular economy: Enya outlined the AI4CE project funded by the EPA addressing barriers, risks, and opportunities for AI adoption in a circular economy. ✔️Upcycling waste materials: Michael showcased his startup's innovative approach to sustainability by upcycling seized cigarette filters into high-quality products. ✔️Circular Construction: Aideen introduced the 'Urban Quarry' concept, whereby valuable materials in expiring buildings could be tracked using digital twin technology for deployment in future construction projects. • Recent storms have underscored the importance of infrastructure resilience, yet public perception continues to hinder progress, highlighting the need for enhanced engagement and more effective governance structures. • Bold leadership from government, business, and industry champions is essential to advancing critical projects. • Resourcing remains a major challenge. Investing in young talent not only strengthens the workforce and drives diversity, but, with a clear project pipeline, also ensures that Ireland remains an attractive market for contractors and investors. These are just a few key takeaways from the “Celebrating Women in Infrastructure: Driving Delivery Forward” event. The session sparked insightful discussions and showcased innovative solutions to some of the most pressing challenges facing #infrastructure development in Ireland. IPFA | Women's Infrastructure Network Ireland (WIN) Thank you to our esteemed panel of experts for their honest and compelling insights and to all attendees for their engagement & participation.
