This Feedback Friday, we are delighted to share some amazing feedback we received recently from the mother of one of our wish children. A crucial aspect of our wishes is that we include immediate family members on our wish days where possible, helping to provide hope and happiness to the entire family. When possible, we work with our Make-A-Wish Ireland community who often help us to grant wishes, from volunteers to corporate sponsors and donors, and this helps to create a positive impact and touch the lives of all those involved. #feedbackfriday #rippleeffect #sparkjoy #lightuphope

Meet Eva (11) from Galway who is living with Burkitt’s Lymphoma. Eva loves everything from the 16th & 17th Century and is a big fan of dressing up and learning about the history of that era. When it came to Eva’s wish she wished to stay in a castle from this time. Once the Wishgranting team heard about Eva’s wish decision they got to work on researching where would be the most authentic location to host this wish. After being in touch with many different castles, hotels and period estate houses, Belleek Castle appeared to be the perfect fit. Eva, her parents and two sisters headed to Belleek Castle where they met our volunteer Aoife and Belleek Castle’s very own tour guide. Eva enjoyed a museum and grounds tour of Belleek Castle, learning about its rich history. Eva and her family also enjoyed afternoon tea and some great night’s sleep in their comfy beds, fit for a queen. Mum was in touch to say “We had a great time in Belleek castle! It was a once in a lifetime experience to live in a castle! We were very impressed by the look of the castle, how well it is preserved and its history! Eva loved everything about it- the old castle look, the rooms, museum tour and that she was able to dress up!” We absolutely loved granting this unique wish and want to express our gratitude to the staff at Belleek Castle for their generosity and kindness, and to our volunteer Aoife. #wishwednesday #evaswish #sparkjoy #lightuphope

We’re delighted to announce the launch of STARboard - our young people's advisory board. Established in September 2024 and made up of nine young Wish Alumni from across Ireland. A STARboard member’s role is to be a voice for wish children on the charity's biggest decisions; steering the direction of Make-A-Wish Ireland and advising on how we overcome challenges to achieve our goals. Huge thanks to Google and their team for hosting our incredible launch event in style. #starboard #childled #sprakjoy #lightuphope

This Feedback Friday, we're highlighting the incredible impact a wish can have, on our wish children, their parents, siblings, and the wider community. Our wish granters meet with wish children and their families, to awaken their imagination, create excitement and empower them to explore their wish. The wish itself is a magical experience for any child – unique to their personality but including their families where possible. The positive impact of a wish lasts long after the wish has been granted. It fosters confidence, builds resilience and provides happiness - something joyful for a family to look back on in the days, months and years ahead. #feedbackfriday #thepowerofawish #sparkjoy #lightuphope

With the help of Disney, we recently had the privilege of granting 17 magical wishes to our wish children and their families. Families travelled by ferry to the magical Disney UK experience at Hoar Cross Hall in the Midlands. During their visit, wish children and their families enjoyed an enchanting breakfast with Mickey and friends, honing their web-slinging skills with Spider-Man, enjoying a Toy Story carnival with Buzz and Woody, Jedi training, Storytime with Belle, and meeting Anna, Elsa, and Olaf from Arendelle. Families also enjoyed a lunchtime picnic in the sunny gardens and a fabulous drone light show during their three-day Disney experience. Hear from some of our inspirational wish families: “Thank you so much for the amazing wish trip. It was so wonderful from beginning to end. We will never forget the joy on Kian & Sophie’s faces as all their Disney dreams came true.” “It’s very difficult to put into words what you have done for our family. We have had the most magical time with you guys, as a family we have created memories that will last forever.” #wishwednesday #disneywishes #sparkjoy #lightuphope
