About us
TrailblazHER™ is a community of people, organisations and enterprises with a shared commitment to advancing gender equality. TrailblazHER™ will support women with the unique challenges they face as job seekers, job creators and leaders by delivering a range of experiences and supports for schoolgoers, higher education students, alumni, entrepreneurs and Irish businesses. Through TrailblazHER™, we will support and advance opportunities for women at second level, third level and beyond their educational experience, in the workplace. Through this important work, TU Dublin will contribute to regional, national and global priorities related to gender equality. This St. Patrick’s Day, TrailblazHER would like to pay homage to the stories we all know and love, but with a twist. The women behind these stories deserve just as much attention and recognition as St. Patrick himself. From Fidelma’s wisdom to Eithne’s bravery, these women not only shaped Irish mythology but also paved the way for independence and strength in a male-dominated world. Let’s challenge the traditional narratives and give light to these women’s stories. This St. Patrick’s Day, we encourage you to explore their legacies and celebrate the powerful women who’ve been too often overlooked. 🍀 #StPatricksDay #ForgottenHistory #IrishMythology #HerStory

What an inspiring day at the Business Post Women in STEM Summit Croke Park today. During the first panel, Sinead Kilkelly from ESB spoke about the importance of challenging gender stereotypes from the earliest stage to achieve medium-term outcomes. A keynote from Lorna Martyn from Fidelity Investments focused on the importance of early-stage play as a catalyst for creativity, critical thinking and learning, and how industry could focus on feeding creative brains to translate into creative outcomes. The education panel included an exemplary primary school teacher, Susan Carroll, from Loreto College who shared learnings from her 4th and 5th class entrepreneurs club. Aoife D'Arcy spoke about the skills of problem-solving, dealing with people and creativity and spoke to the importance of how we present STEM as a future pathway to young people, suggesting that presenting STEM as an option engages skills/things that they love could resonate moreso with girls than traditional imagery does. This raised interesting debate on both sides. Fiona Croke from MSD shared the importance of recognising the potential in people and that keeping an open mind to the non-linear career pathways of people can help remove invisible barriers that can reduce opportunities for people. Technological University Dublin President, Dr. Deirdre Lillis spoke about how the HEI sector can promote and encourage engagement by providing bespoke talent development solutions but also by recognising learning through accreditation. She also spoke about the importance of identifying the needs of different groups and ensuring that the sector is agile in its response to the inclusion needs of different demographics of learners. Senator Lynn Ruane gave a really compelling keynote which highlighted current global contexts in terms of the public undermining of science, facts and evidence, and finished with a rousing call for us to wholly engage the arts, within STEAM, to unlock new dimensions of thinking. Siki Giunta from HCLTech focused on the importance of the company you choose to work for noting that your choice of company, is your partner in life. Bronagh Riordan from EY noted that institutional support for DEI was foundational and highlighted the benefits of sponsorship, mentorship and coaching. Dr. Salome Mbugua passionately called for organisations to put intent and policy into action noting that we have to name the issues and identify our biases if we want to move the dial on inclusive recruitment practices. We could write so much more as there were so many learnings, but all in all, what a wonderful event. Congratulations to all involved and huge well done to Sonya Lennon for such masterful hosting.
