Our research group has a new opportunity for a Research Engineer to work on a collaborative project with #LIST and #FeschHaff. The project aims to produce Organic Fertiliser from animal manure. The role will focus on Process Intensification and Techno-Economic Analysis of nutrient recovery from animal manures. This is a temporary position for 24 months. Congratulations to Stage 3 chemical & bioprocess engineering student Oisín Wade who has won the prestigious Naughton Fellowship at the University of Notre Dame. The Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) programme at the University of Notre Dame will host two STEM students from UCD who will receive a generous stipend for travel and living expenses. Oisín will spend 10-weeks over the summer in South Bend, Indiana working alongside world class researchers.

Passionate about multivariate data analysis? This job might be of interest. UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or 2, UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, Temporary 18 months This role is part of the Horizon Europe funded project PROSPLIGN: Prospecting natural lignin biodiversity towards unlocking value-added bioactive motives and molecules. The PROSPLIGN consortium has developed an innovative bioprospecting approach that uses cutting-edge and complementary chemical and enzymatic methods, supported by statistical analysis and coupled with high-throughput detection methods, to enable the discovery of bioactive molecules from lignin, one of the fractions of the most abundant biopolymer on Earth (lignocellulose). Lignin “chemical biodiversity” will enable PROSPLIGN to cover three target markets (pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and fragrances) with a combined market of >€1.4 trillion.   The successful researcher will be responsible for leading the application of multivariate data analysis and predictive decision support tools to the bioprospecting activities in order to augment and accelerate the experimental work being undertaken. The tools will inform process synthesis, design, planning and optimisation.    Closing date: 17:00hrs (local Irish time) on 5th of January 2024 via the UCD website.
