Professor Fidelma Dunne, Director of the Institute for Clinical Trials, has received the President's Award for Best Research Team on behalf of the #EMERGE team. Congratulations to Prof Dunne, Prof Andrew Smyth, Prof Martin O'Donnell, Dr Christine Newman Prof. Declan Devane Prof Paddy Gillespie and Dr Alberto Alvarez-Iglesias for their work on the #EMERGE trial Congratulations to Dr Elaine Toomey, Academic Co-Lead for Trials Innovation at the Institute, who received the President's Award for Best Early Career Researcher at the same ceremony. She is a Health Research Board (HRB) ‘Applying Research into Policy and Practice’ Research Fellow and PI on the INTREPiD project which looks at integrating research into public-health decision-making.

Congratulations to all the team at SymPhysis Medical, a medical technology firm focused on palliative care for late-stage cancer patients who have recently raised €2.2 million in funding. This company emerged from the BioInnovate Ireland programme University of Galway, and are preparing to secure US regulatory clearance for its #Releaze device.
