🌟 Our next 2024/2025 BioInnovate Fellow to introduce is Lara Coyne! 🎥 Lara brings a unique blend of clinical expertise, research experience, and academic leadership to the BioInnovate Fellowship. She holds a PhD in movement analysis from the University of Galway, where she focused on evaluating a markerless motion capture system in a Premier League football academy. Alongside her PhD, she has a BSc in Physiotherapy (UCD) and an MSc in Sports & Exercise Physiotherapy. With an extensive background in clinical and sports physiotherapy, Lara ran her own private practice for over eight years in Ireland and worked in advanced physiotherapy roles with the NHS in the UK. Her sports physiotherapy career is equally impressive, serving as Lead Sports Physiotherapist for elite teams, including Mayo Gaelic Football, Connacht Schools Rugby, and England Hockey. Beyond her clinical work, Lara has been actively involved in research and academia. She has contributed to several research projects and held roles as a lecturer and program director in universities across Ireland and the UK. His career is marked by pioneering work in the development of automotive camera systems and vehicle safety technologies, especially in the ADAS and Autonomous Mobility sectors. Gavan's journey began with a stint in Japan as a design engineer, followed by a key role as a Senior Race Engineer for Ford Cosworth, contributing to the success of Stewart Grand Prix and Jaguar Racing Formula 1 teams. His passion for creating impactful healthcare solutions led him to pursue an MSc in Engineering and Policy Analysis at Delft University of Technology, combining technical expertise with strategic insight. Bender’s professional path includes working at an early-stage investment boutique and spending over two and a half years as a venture developer at NLC Health Ventures, the world’s largest healthtech venture builder. There, he focused on interventional cardiology and cardiac surgery, building ventures that have the potential to significantly improve patient outcomes. Her passion for brain and language development led her to complete a BSc in Clinical Language Sciences at Leeds Beckett University and an MSc from the University of Sheffield. Her career as a Senior Speech and Language Therapist has spanned across London, Mayo, Dublin, and Galway, working with clients with neurological and rare genetic conditions. Caitriona’s dedication to understanding her clients’ needs and delivering impactful solutions has been her driving force.
