5 days, 5 volunteering projects, 28 hours and 53 amazing Virgin volunteers – our second Very Virgin Volunteer Week certainly was a great success! To wrap up our Very Virgin Volunteer Week, a group of colleagues spent time with the DSPCA dogs on Friday afternoon, taking them on a nature and perimeter walk, giving them quality time away from their daily routine and giving them lots of cuddles and TLC! Today, we helped the Dublin Simon Community team at their warehouse in Chapelizod, tidying up the space and organising recent donations before they are distributed to services or sold in their charity shops. It was a great opportunity to see how everything works behind the scenes. This morning, a group of our colleagues headed to Portmarnock beach with An Taisce and Clean Coasts for a beach clean. Together, in just over an hour, they collected 18.5kg of rubbish. We’d like to thank Aidan from Clean Coasts for making the beach clean possible and sharing his knowledge about the negative impact of plastic pollution on the marine environment and what we can do to prevent it.   #VeryVirginVolunteerWeek #Connecting4Good #ItsPlaytime

This week, Team Virgin Media are celebrating a Very Virgin Volunteer Week, with 5 days of fantastic volunteering opportunities lined up throughout the week supporting good causes from our local communities. Today, we are kicking things off at FoodCloud Kitchen, preparing meals and learning ways to minimise food waste.   FoodCloud tackle the twin issues of food waste and food insecurity by redistributing surplus food from the food industry to a network of charity and community partners. Cast and crew lined the red carpet at this morning's exclusive preview screening of our brand-new gripping drama Dead & Buried in Dublin's Lighthouse Cinema.   Written by acclaimed Irish author, Colin Bateman, and filmed across the Island of Ireland, ‘Dead & Buried’ will launch on Virgin Media One on Monday 2nd September. For the last two weeks, we have hosted a sustainable Clothes Swap Pop-up in our Ballymount office. Organised with The Sustainable Life School, the Pop-Up gave our colleagues the opportunity to explore the idea of circular fashion and give the clothes they don’t wear anymore a new life. Today, we wrapped up the Clothes Swap Pop-up with a sustainable fashion workshop where we learned about the impact of fast fashion on the environment and the ways to educate and encourage our employees to make more sustainable fashion choices.
