🔎 A landmark day yesterday as Coimisiún na Meán published the first finalised Online Safety Code in Ireland. The Code sets out binding rules which apply to designated video-sharing platforms who have their EU headquarters in Ireland. These rules introduce obligations on these platforms to protect people, especially children, from harmful video and associated content. 📅 The Code, the draft version of which was initially published in December 2023, does not immediately come into effect - rather Part A becomes effective next month (after 28 days) and, for Part B, there is an implementation window of up to nine months to allow platforms to become compliant with the Code, if such compliance requires design of internal systems. 💡 This means that the countdown to compliance is on and so it is timely that Anna Morgan and I recently published an article summarising the application of the Code, which you can check out below. ☕ Please feel free to drop either of us a line if you would like to discuss the Code or anything else online safety with us, we are always open to a chat (and coffee!). #onlinesafety #onlinesafetycode https://lnkd.in/eaTZQ87J
