One of things I love about the “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant is its human-like intelligence. Of course, this is not by chance: due to constant software improvements, you can now talk to the car as if it were a real person! Here are some examples that are worth using if you drive an electric #MercedesBenz. If you’re planning to visit somewhere new, just say: “𝗛𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝘆 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻?” The vehicle then compares the driving style and battery level with the active navigation, so you know if you have enough charge to complete the journey. If you need to charge up, then just say: “𝗛𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗜 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲?” and the locations appear on the navigation map. Then when you arrive, you can ask the vehicle to charge to a desired level: “𝗛𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗴𝗲 𝘂𝗽 𝘁𝗼 𝟴𝟬 𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗻𝘁”. Finally, my favourite command is: “𝗛𝗲𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗿𝗰𝗲𝗱𝗲𝘀, 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗽𝗿𝗲-𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝘆 𝗰𝗮𝗿?” This really shows its ability to engage in natural conversation because it asks you to confirm the start time and the desired temperature. What makes a car a Mercedes-Benz?   I’ve often thought about this question and while some answers lie in the countless details and innovations that we’ve introduced, for me, it boils down to one clear aspect: trust. And here’s the proof: In the past year, we have become the world’s first manufacturer to publicly perform a full-frontal crash-test between two electric cars – and the first automaker to X-ray a collision.   The X-ray test is a significant milestone. By using ultra-short X-ray images taken at a rate of up to 1,000 per second, we are now able to scan the car during a crash test to make visible even the tiniest changes that take place at the moment of impact. On the road to the launch of MB.OS next year, we’re continuing to improve our #MBUX infotainment system with more intelligent functions. The latest way we’re doing this? By making the MBUX Voice Assistant more helpful and interactive than ever. Following the introduction of “Hey Mercedes with ChatGPT” Beta to the US last year, I am excited to announce that we’re taking the next step with our new “Hey Mercedes Smart Search” Beta programme. It offers expanded search capabilities and additional functionality.For example: you can now discover live events in your area – like upcoming concerts or basketball games. 🎼🏀Or get real-time vehicle information (only available on the new 2024 E-Class), recommendations and check on facts and figures.  To enable this new functionality, Hey Mercedes Smart Search integrates ChatGPT via Azure OpenAI Service and Bing Search. This both enhances your in-car experience with natural understanding and gives you the ability to conduct continuous conversations – including follow-up questions – with MBUX Voice Assistant. It offers expanded search capabilities and additional functionality. For example: you can now discover live events in your area – like upcoming concerts or basketball games. Or get real-time vehicle information (only available on the new 2024 E-Class C), recommendations and check on facts and figures. Vor einigen Tagen durfte ich stellvertretend für Mercedes-Benz den AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Award entgegennehmen.   Wie jedes Jahr hat das Center of Automotive Management (CAM) das Ranking der innovationsstärksten Premiummarken bekanntgegeben. Mercedes-Benz hat dabei erneut den Hauptpreis gewinnen können. Ebenso wurden wir in den Kategorien “Infotainment & Connectivity”, sowie die E-Klasse als “Innovationsstärkstes Modell” ausgezeichnet.   Besonders hervorgehoben wurden unter anderem unsere Innovationen in den Bereichen Interface & Interieur, Connectivity und Elektroantrieb. Neben anderen Innovationen überzeugten vor allem der MBUX-Superscreen und das 5G-Telekommunikationsmodul. Für eine der größten elektrischen Reichweiten und den niedrigsten Kraftstoffverbrauch in ihrem Segment wurde außerdem noch ein Plug-In-Hybrid-Modell der E-Klasse ausgezeichnet.   Es war mir eine Freude, die Preise von Stefan Bratzel, Prof. Dr. persönlich anzunehmen. TIME and data specialists Statista have just announced the top 500 list of the World’s Most Sustainable Companies for 2024. In the Automotive Industry & Suppliers category, Mercedes-Benz AG was ranked second. In the overall ranking, we reached 106th place out of the 500 companies that were listed.   These results demonstrate our commitment to achieving ambitious and measurable goals. As part of the Cyber Week events, the Israeli Hi-Tech Association held the first-ever Cyber Week Conference in the Israeli Industry! More than 200 CEOs and leading CISOs from various industries and companies and esteemed figures such as Dr. Ron Tomer, Marian Cohen, Gabi Portnoy, and Prof. Isaac Ben-Israel participated in the conference. We hosted two main panels: Senior CEOs Panel, which focused on the cyber perspective from the CEO’s viewpoint. Dr. Yaniv Harel led the panel, which included Romina Maier, CEO of Agan-Adama; Idan Leifer, CEO of CME; Yair Shapira, CEO of Berman Bakeries; and Adi Ofek, CEO of the Mercedes Benz Israeli R&D Center. The second panel was dedicated to CISOs who discussed challenges, threats, and the importance of executive training for various types of attacks. Thanks to the Moderator Menny Barzilay and the participants: Eli Patel from Strauss, Iris Nachshoni from Ormat, Amir Arad from Tnuva, and Tony Rashef from Electra. Additionally, there was a fascinating conversation between the CISO of ICL and the CEO of Amraz. Outside the hall, an impressive exhibition was held by Cyber Forum companies, showcasing some of the most innovative solutions to industry professionals. #MercedesBenz is reinventing the in-car digital experience by leveraging the power of artificial intelligence. Navigation is one example. Today, more than three million customers around the world are using Google Place Details in their cars. Next year, with the advent of our new own Mercedes-Benz Operating System, MB.OS, we will take navigation to a new level with MBUX Surround Navigation. Voice assistance also benefits from AI. Our upcoming #MBUXVirtualAssistant uses generative AI and advanced 3D graphics to make interactions more natural, intuitive and personalized. None of these game-changing technologies would be possible without the skill and dedication from our team of talented engineers. So, it’s great to be able to announce that our MBUX Virtual Assistant technology has won the Automotive AI Product of the Year award from the ICA Summit 2024.👏 Recognition from the industry strengthens our focus and further underlines why #AI is at the heart of our software strategy.
