We are thrilled to announce the kick starting of our plot project with NOF - Natural Offset Farming under the DeserTech initiative, the project is to tackle the critical issue of post-harvest loss among tomato and onion farmers in Nigeria. The pilot project was funded by the United Nations Convention to Combat #Desertification and we will serve as NOF's local partners in Nigeria. This partnership aims to revolutionize agricultural practices and improve the livelihoods of millions of rural farmers.
By implementing this innovative post-harvest technologies developed by NOF Cooling, we will equip farmers with the tools to preserve their perishable harvests, such as tomatoes and onions. This will enable them to transport their products to markets both within and outside Nigeria without the fear of spoilage, significantly reducing waste and increasing their income.
The primary objectives of this partnership is to improve farmers' livelihoods by reducing post-harvest losses, which will help farmers generate higher incomes, leading to improved living standards and reduced poverty. The project will also enhance #foodsecurity by preserving perishable harvests, this will help contribute to a more stable food supply and reduce food insecurity in Nigeria. The project will also promote sustainable #agriculture as it aligns with sustainable agriculture practices by minimizing waste and reducing the environmental impact of #food production.
This collaboration is a significant step towards achieving the SDGs, particularly those related to poverty reduction, food security, and sustainable agriculture. By empowering #farmers and improving their #livelihoods, we are contributing to a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
