According to a recent Federal News Network article penned by Anastasia Obis, America's inaugural Assistant Secretary of Defense for Cyber Policy Michael Sulmeyer is prioritizing the development of better ways to measure cybersecurity progress and success across the United States Department of Defense. A key focus of Sulmeyer's approach is establishing better metrics. This is yet another example of the growing demand for more mature #cybersecurity management—highlighting the increasing need for SeeMetrics—even at the highest levels of cyber intelligence. The disconnect between #cybersecurity leadership and operational realities can set the stage for disaster. This risk is heightened when C-level leaders are too removed from the day-to-day, leading them to underestimate—or "mis-estimate"—the true dangers. SeeMetrics helps connect the strategic layer with the operational and day-to-day layers. Link to the article in the first comment. #CISO #securityoperations #riskmanagement

When the SEC asks you to “describe” board oversight on security, how do you do it? A good description involves showing trends, gaps, and the progress you've made. It involves showing how your ever-evolving tech stack continues to align with your board's expectations. SeeMetrics helps you to do all this with a few clicks!

It's time to empower security leaders with better tools to become compelling storytellers. Especially as the narrative around security evolves, it's critical for them to be equipped to effectively communicate these shifts. It's what we do at SeeMetrics. Being the #cybersecurity translation layer involves many tasks e.g., integrating different #data sources into cohesion, getting the right #metrics at the right time, identifying the underlying story, presenting it to different audiences in a business language they can understand. Luckily with SeeMetrics, it’s all automated 🦾 Listen to the entire podcast of CISO Series Defense in Depth: "Cybersecurity is a Communications Problem" through the link in the first comment. In a recent interview, McKinsey & Company cyber-resilience expert Daniel Wallance was asked what expectations boards should have around cyber metrics and measurement. Wallace’s answer outlined a number of key questions that need to be answered, some of which were: 1. Risk: “In the last 60 days, were there attempts to exfiltrate sensitive data such as customer repositories from the organization?” 2. Maturity: “What is the state of our data protection controls?” 3. Progress: “What is the progress toward improving and advancing our cybersecurity program?” So, how can #security organizations answer the above quickly and accurately? Automated security programs offer continuous performance insights, in historical context, with the ability to see trends around progress and gaps. This is exactly what we do at SeeMetrics. In February, #NIST 2.0 added the #Govern function to the five existing functions: Identify, Protect, Detect, Respond, and Recover. Since then #security organizations are updating their #metrics programs and the metrics they use to effectively gauge their cybersecurity maturity and resilience. With SeeMetrics, it’s a matter of minutes. Link to the article in the first comment. #securityoperations #riskmanagement #CISOs

💪🏼 Metrics are gaining momentum 💪🏼 Metrics are becoming a fundamental part of managing #cybersecurity programs and governing security organizations. Congrats to Metrics That Matter -- Larry Pfeifer, Frank Scholl -- on their recent launch! The rise of the "metrics language" is here to help us continuously improve and optimize our defenses. Whether you choose to manage metrics manually or automate the process, it's a significant step toward securing your organization.
