🎤Preparing to combat disinformation – Designing AI for Democracy pitching 🎤 On Tuesday, members of our embassy team joined a dynamic pitching session, providing valuable feedback to six inspiring projects teams as they presented their pitches in a dress rehearsal for the upcoming “Designing #AI for #Democracy”: Combating #Disinformation by Technological Measures” competition. These promising projects aimed to assist in contenting with the dissemination of #disinformation and misinformation. This session provided a unique opportunity for each team to receive insightful and constructive feedback from the competition partners, helping them to refine their presentation ahead of next week’s final event. As the Prime Minister Starmer said: “We stand with Israel and we recognise her right to self defence in the face of this aggression.” Our Ambassador, Simon Walters, shares a heartfelt message reflecting on the immense challenges of the past year. “This would usually be a time for celebration, when families gather to bid each other a sweet new year. But this year, my thoughts go especially to the families who have lost loved ones and those who still have hostages in Gaza. 🗺️ Navigating the Future of AI regulation! 🗺️   Proud of our Tech Policy Lead Shahd Asfour for delivering an insightful lecture on the UK's regulatory approach to critical technologies, using AI as a case study. The lecture was delivered to digital leaders in criminal justice as part of their development program partnering with JDC (The Joint) משרד המשפטים מערך הדיגיטל הלאומי - Israel National Digital Agency During the lecture, Shahd highlighted key policy developments that are shaping the UK's current stance on #AI regulation, emphasising: 📍 The need for policymakers to remain adaptable as technology evolves, particularly in relation to emerging capabilities and associated risks. 📍 The importance of extensive #cooperation internally between the different government stakeholders. 📍 The critical role of international collaboration, citing significant steps taken by the UK to achieve this such as: the AI Safety Summit - AISS 2023 and its significant outcomes; establishing The AI Safety Institute (AISI), an important milestone in global efforts to ensure AI safety. As the UK leads discussions on regulating powerful AI models, the focus is shifting to risks originating from the compute infrastructure and developer actions.
