Over 230 million girls and women alive today have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM). The UK is supporting grassroots organisations and activists who are leading change from within their communities to unite to end FGM. This International Day of Zero Tolerance for FGM, we spoke to some of these remarkable women. #Unite2EndFGM

📢 300,000+ people have treated by our teams in #Gaza. Since the humanitarian response began, UK-Med built and continue to run two field hospitals funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office, alongside support for the emergency department at Nasser Hospital. This milestone is a testament to the enormous efforts of our medics to care for hundreds of ill and injured people every day. A huge thank you to all our supporters, staff, and partners who make our work possible. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eFgdBDhf

International co-operation is essential to tackling irregular migration. Today we’re announcing new funding for initiatives providing skills to vulnerable young people in North Africa to boost their job opportunities in their home countries. Working with IOM - UN Migration (IoM), we’re announcing £5 million of new funding for our North Africa Migration and Development programme which will help boost job opportunities for vulnerable young people in Tunisia, Algeria and Egypt. Improving co-operation on returns is how we send people home safely. The UK will also contribute up to £1 million to the IoM's Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegration Programme to ensure those people who arrive in Tunisia irregularly can be safely returned to their home communities.
