A group of talented engineering apprentices from five local companies (Swagelok, MUA, Triumph, Ronaldsway, and Strix) recently headed to the UK to visit other industry leaders 🛠️✈️ ✔️ They kicked off their visit at Hope Technology in Barnoldswick, where they got a behind-the-scenes look at how high-precision bicycle components are designed and manufactured in-house. ✔️ They then headed to the University of Sheffield's Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre (AMRC)—right in time for National Manufacturing Week. The apprentices were able to see first-hand how advanced manufacturing is driving innovation and attracting global giants like Boeing and Rolls-Royce. ✔️ Their final stop was Abbey Forged Products, a top player in high-quality forgings for critical sectors such as aerospace and nuclear. Why does this matter? 💡 As one of the initiatives arranged by the ACE programme, which is co-funded by industry and Business Isle of Man, visits like these offer an invaluable opportunity for young engineers to see how technology is applied across industries and to build networks that will strengthen the Isle of Man’s engineering community.
