Fighting for justice, inclusion & ubiquitous access to healthcare for disadvantaged children, worldwide.
About us
Every Infant Matters is a Non Profit organisation registered in India. It is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged children and ensuring ubiquitous access to healthcare. Our current projects include prevention of blindness by giving Vitamin A drops, deworming by giving Albendazole, distribution of prenatal vitamins to expectant mothers, promotion of breast feeding and other healthy childhood practices and dispelling myths and harmful practices related to childhood to ensure good health of children. We are currently working with 18 partners all over India and 2 partners in Nigeria, one in Kenya and one in Dominican Republic. We are also conducting health camps, to serve the poorest of the poor and achieve the above objectives. Since the last few months we have also focused our energy on providing relief in the unbelievably hard times of the COVID19 Pandemic, by helping those who are the worst effected. We, at EIM believe in justice and inclusion. Every infant does indeed matter, and every child has the right to health, education, and subsequent economic empowerment. That is the mission of this organisation.

Empowering Communities Through Collective Action At Every Infant Matters, we believe that true change happens when communities come together with a shared vision of well-being and progress. Our mission is to address critical health issues in underserved areas, focusing on essential care, education, and preventive measures to uplift lives across India. Our current projects cover vital health areas, including addressing Vitamin A deficiency, combating malnutrition, promoting clean water access, and strengthening healthcare systems through training. In remote areas where resources are limited, these projects provide lifesaving support, ensuring that everyone, regardless of location, can access necessary healthcare and nutrition. From screening children for Vitamin A deficiencies and distributing deworming tablets to implementing sustainable water solutions through rainwater harvesting, we are working toward a healthier future. Each project reflects our commitment to not only treat but also educate, empowering individuals to be proactive about their health. “Our work is about more than just providing care. It’s about empowering people to take charge of their health and create lasting change,” says Dr. Radhika Batra, Founder and President. However, we cannot do this alone. We call upon like-minded individuals and organizations to join us in this mission to expand our reach, making a difference in society and empowering communities across the nation. We extend our heartfelt thanks to our CEO, Dr. Shelly Batra, our dedicated donors, and supportive government authorities. Together, we are paving the way for a healthier, more resilient future. Building Health Resilience in Local Communities At Every Infant Matters, our commitment goes beyond healthcare delivery—we work to empower community health workers who serve as local heroes. Through targeted training programs, we equip ASHAs, ANMs, and other healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools they need to make a difference within their communities. By focusing on topics like maternal health, nutrition, and preventive care, we ensure these workers can address pressing health issues at a grassroots level. Each trained healthcare worker becomes a spark of positive change, helping educate and support families, detect early signs of malnutrition, and provide guidance for healthier living. The impact of these efforts is profound, reaching even the most remote and underserved areas. "By investing in our local healthcare workforce, we’re not only improving health outcomes but building a foundation of lasting resilience," says Dr. Radhika Batra, Founder and President. With immense gratitude to our CEO, Dr. Shelly Batra, our dedicated donors, and government support, we continue to work towards a healthier, more informed future. Preventive Care: A Proactive Approach to Health Equity At Every Infant Matters, we believe in the power of prevention and education to create lasting health changes. Our teams actively conduct awareness campaigns, health screenings, and workshops, ensuring communities understand and prioritize preventive care. From teaching parents about Vitamin A’s role in immunity to training healthcare workers in early detection of malnutrition, our focus is on empowering individuals with knowledge that can save lives. Our mission extends beyond providing healthcare access; we’re building a foundation of awareness and self-reliance. By equipping communities with essential health information, we empower them to protect their own health and take proactive steps in addressing common health risks. This approach is instrumental in building a health-literate society where knowledge is the first line of defense. “By focusing on prevention, we aim to tackle health issues before they become critical, fostering stronger, more resilient communities,” says Dr. Radhika Batra, Founder and President. With deep gratitude to our CEO, Dr. Shelly Batra, our donors, and our on-ground partners, we continue to work together towards a healthier future for all. #PreventiveCare #CommunityHealth #HealthEducation #Empowerment #EveryInfantMatters

“The only way to achieve the SDGs is by focusing on marginalised and hard to reach populations,” says Dr Radhika Batra, whose work District Kargil is a testimony to her dedication towards children. Dr Sadat Shah, Block Medical officer, Chiktan, District Kargil, is another such person who is fully dedicated towards providing health to Ladakhi communities in Chiktan and from neighbouring villages. Dr Shah is deeply appreciative of Every Infant Matters and its much needed projects of vitamin A supplementation and addressing the issues of malnutrition in women & children, and has requested long term continuation of these endeavours. We request the Great Eastern CSR Foundation, unnikrishnan ts and Swarnima Tamang to continue the partnership with us so that we can continue to serve marginalised communities in the remotest part of the country.

Soqra Bano is a government Asha worker based out of village Latoo in district Kargil. Many a times pregnant women come to her, saying that the baby is not moving within the uterus. Soqra, like other Asha workers, has no training on how to use a stethoscope and does not even own a stethoscope. She has no way of knowing whether the baby is alive or not. It is a very challenging situation. Decreased fetal movements can happen several times in pregnancy, and if the nearest hospital is far away, it is next to impossible to visit the doctor each time. The solution is simple. Soqra is using a fetal heart monitor, an easy to use, low-cost device, the size of a mobile phone, which amplifies the whisper like fetal heart rate into a loud heart beat that fills the entire room. What a welcome sound! We are implementing a three-year project in district Kargil, when now the ground is frozen hard and the bitter cold makes trips to the hospital impossible. This project has been made possible by the gracious generosity of the Great Eastern CSR foundation, unnikrishnan ts and Swarnima Tamang. And we’re so grateful to another donor Rotary Club Bombay Bayview that has provided several fetal heart monitors, that have been sent to villages in seven blocks across district Kargil. Asha workers are using the fetal heart monitors during pregnancy and even during labour pains to assess the well-being of the baby, to find out whether the baby is growing normally and is getting adequate oxygen or not during labour pains. And if there is any sign of fetal distress, which is detected by a feeble, falling or irregular heartbeat, the health workers immediately send the patient to the district hospital, thus saving precious lives.

Join Us in the Fight Against Vitamin A Deficiency and Malnutrition In the remotest and underserved areas, where access to healthcare is limited, malnutrition and Vitamin A deficiency are leading causes of preventable blindness, illness, and even death. At Every Infant Matters, we understand the urgency of this crisis. We have dedicated ourselves to addressing these issues by providing Vitamin A supplementation and nutritional support to vulnerable children and communities. Our mission goes beyond just delivering healthcare—it’s about ensuring that every child, no matter where they are, has a fair chance at a healthy and bright future. We work tirelessly to reach those most in need, offering proactive diagnosis, treatment, and education on the importance of nutrition and Vitamin A to prevent severe health issues. "Despite the challenges, we know the impact of our efforts. Without these essential services, many may never have a chance to escape the cycle of poor health. We are committed to reaching every child we can because their futures depend on it," says Dr. Radhika Batra, Founder and President. But we cannot do this alone. We need the support of people from the community, society, and the nation to help us in this mission. We request like-minded individuals, organizations, and communities to join us in expanding our reach so that together we can make a meaningful change in society, uplift communities, and contribute to a healthier nation. With immense gratitude, we thank our CEO, Dr. Shelly Batra, our generous donors, government authorities, and every supporter for helping us work towards a brighter, healthier future for these children. #EndMalnutrition #ChildHealth #VitaminADeficiency #CommunitySupport #HealthForAll
