As part of the Ahmedabad Heat Action Plan, Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation - AMC, Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS), and MHT have introduced India’s first ‘Cool Bus Stop’ at Lal Darwaja, Platform 7 & 8! Inaugurated by Ahmedabad’s Mayor Shri Pratibhaben Jain, along with the Chairman - AMTS, Deputy Chairman - AMC, Deputy Transport Manager, and the Transport Standing Committee, this innovative initiative aims to provide relief to thousands of daily commuters—especially students, daily-wage workers, and vulnerable population—from extreme heat. Strategically located in a high-footfall area exposed to direct sunlight, the bus stop is equipped with a High-Pressure Mist System, offering an energy-efficient cooling solution. Building Heat Resilience in #Lucknow! #VoicesFromTheGround Kirmala Devi, a sewing machine operator from Shrambihar Colony 2, has been the primary breadwinner for her family. However, #ExtremeHeat significantly reduced her productivity, leading to a decline in income. With support from MHT, Solar-Reflective White Paint (SRWP) was applied to her roof, bringing down indoor temperatures. This simple yet effective intervention has enabled her to work without disruption, improving both her livelihood and well-being. The bus stop, which is most exposed to direct sunlight and sees a footfall of approximately more than 6,00,000 people in 6 months of summer season, was picked for the initiative.
