The session on community-led climate adaptation—highlighted how local engagement and behavioral change are key to long-term heat resilience. The session moderated by Satish Kumar, Founder & President, Alliance for an Energy Efficient Economy (AEEE) also reinforced that true climate resilience is built from the ground up. Bijal Brahmbhatt, Executive Director, Mahila Housing Trust, emphasized that climate action must start with communities. She shared how daily activities like sanitation and water procurement were used to help women understand climate change. By integrating activity-based learning and gamification, capacity building becomes more accessible, allowing vulnerable groups to assess their own climate risks and contribute as equals in climate action. Mary McBryde, Chief Program Officer, Climate Resilience for All, stressed that women are disproportionately impacted by heat—mentally, financially, and physically. She highlighted the need for robust financial tools like heat-resilient insurance and non-financial solutions like early warning systems (EWS) and tech training to empower communities against rising temperatures. #GHCF2025 #CommunityResilience #HeatResilience #CoolingForAll

Building Heat Resilience in #Lucknow! #VoicesFromTheGround Kirmala Devi, a sewing machine operator from Shrambihar Colony 2, has been the primary breadwinner for her family. However, #ExtremeHeat significantly reduced her productivity, leading to a decline in income. With support from MHT, Solar-Reflective White Paint (SRWP) was applied to her roof, bringing down indoor temperatures. This simple yet effective intervention has enabled her to work without disruption, improving both her livelihood and well-being. Such climate-smart solutions, enhance living conditions, promote economic stability, and strengthen climate resilience for vulnerable communities. Got a climate-smart solution?
