Since my first year of college, I've been actively working on-ground, and I'm still doing it today. Visiting places, meeting new people, understanding their problems, and helping them with solutions is something I always love to do. I am fortunate enough to visit villages across different states and meet people from different cultures and backgrounds. Following the same, people often reach out to me, asking for opportunities in the social impact domain. Here's an interesting opportunity that I came across recently. India Fellow Social Leadership Program curates a 18-month experience for you to live in rural life and work on social issues at the frontline while you contribute your skills and learn from the experts. You will be solving the problems in financial literacy using technology for good, documenting impactful stories, improving systems on ground, and becoming a better leader. Pens are a ubiquitous part of our daily lives, yet their environmental impact is often overlooked. Each year, around 50 billion pens are discarded, with most made from plastic. This non-recyclable plastic waste, which will outlive us all, drove us to take action. We are excited that our journey towards creating the world’s first plastic-free ball pen has been beautifully captured by The Hindu. A heartfelt thank you to Nidhi Adlakha for understanding our mission in detail and sharing our story. At NOTE, we believe sustainability should be a core value in the stationery industry. Pens, one of the first educational tools a child interacts with, must set an example of what is possible with sustainable design. By making writing instruments entirely from sustainable materials and eliminating plastic altogether, we wanted to show how waste could be turned into something functional and beautiful. Through collaboration, partnerships, sharing knowledge, and continuous innovation, we are developing sustainable and scalable production systems with universally compatible designs. We are confident that NOTE will make a significant impact, making products that pose no offence to the earth accessible to the masses. Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/g2PAVNr6

Every year the fellowship attracts young Indian from across various walks of life and we are often asked, "with no 'background' in development work or understanding of the nuances of the complex issues at the grassroots, how are the fellows able to add any value?" The answer to that is that the fellows do not operate in isolation. They are placed with a high impact grassroots organization we call a host. The team there are apt companion and mentor to this young person as they begin to understand India's social fabric, first hand. You can find details of our hosts here - https://lnkd.in/dVHNyKHC The idea of impact or adding value is often romanticised. Our ecosystem understands, change takes time and often it is sufficient to plant the seed of that during the fellowship. Application the the 17th cohort of the fellowship is currently being accepted.
