  • Designing Spaces of Healing & Hope | World Cancer Day At INI, we believe that architecture plays a vital role in shaping spaces that heal. On World Cancer Day, we reaffirm our commitment to designing healthcare environments that prioritize patient comfort, medical efficiency, and architectural excellence. Our projects, Gujarat Cancer Research Institute and Lucknow Super Specialty Cancer Institute, embody this vision— demonstrating how sensitive design can transform cancer care facilities into spaces of hope and healing. The Gujarat Cancer Research Institute & Gujarat Cancer Society (GCRI-GCS) in Ahmedabad, follows a human-centred zoning strategy, ensuring efficient workflow for caregivers and patients. The biophilic design philosophy incorporates green walls, therapeutic gardens, and open courtyards to promote mental well-being. The interior layout optimizes patient flow, reducing waiting times and enhancing accessibility. Designed to support the latest advancements in oncology, the facility houses cutting-edge research and treatment spaces, allowing for continuous innovation in cancer care. The design of the Super Specialty Cancer Institute in Lucknow emphasizes openness and natural connectivity, with large windows and skylights allowing ample daylight. The spatial planning ensures intuitive wayfinding, for patients, visitors, and caregivers. The design prioritizes flexibility and modularity, accommodating evolving medical technologies while maintaining an efficient and patient-friendly environment. The material palette of soft hues and warm textures counters the sterility, while landscaped courtyards and rooftop gardens provide spaces for respite, reflection and healing. Good design goes beyond aesthetics—it fosters resilience and hope. #WorldCancerDay #ArchitectureForHealing #HealthcareDesign #CancerCare #PatientCenteredDesign #INIProjects #GujaratCancerResearchInstitute #LucknowSuperSpecialtyHospital #SustainableHealthcare #INIDesignStudio

  • Word of the Week: Anthropocentrism Anthropocentrism is a human-centred approach to design, prioritizing comfort, function, and aesthetics—often at the expense of ecological balance. Architecture has long followed this principle, shaping environments around human needs while sidelining nature. At INI, we embrace a biocentric and ecocentric approach—designing with nature, not over it. This philosophy is embedded in our projects: Aga Hall Estate Redevelopment This urban transformation redefines vertical living with high-rise towers designed for light, ventilation, and city views. Integrated hospitals, schools, and community spaces create a dynamic live-work-learn environment. Green roofs, shaded courtyards, and landscaped terraces soften the skyline, merging modernity with cultural heritage while enhancing urban resilience. Shivrajpur Beach Development A sensitive coastal intervention, this project blends tourism infrastructure with environmental conservation. Elevated boardwalks, timber pavilions, and resort structures minimize footprint while maximizing ocean views and ventilation. The master plan actively preserves sand dunes and coral reefs, ensuring that architecture harmonizes with the coastal ecosystem, rather than disrupting it. Sanskriti Eco.mmunity A net-zero, biophilic development, this project prioritizes passive design and renewable energy. Courtyards, green roofs, and shaded walkways create microclimates, reducing heat while enhancing comfort. Inspired by natural water flow, it optimizes rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge. Every design decision fosters regeneration, not just sustainability, setting a precedent for future eco-communities. The shift from human-centric to life-centric design is no longer a choice—it’s a necessity. As we reimagine the built environment, are we designing for all life or just ourselves? #DesignForLife #INIExperience #SustainableFutures #EcocentricDesign #BiophilicArchitecture #INIProjects #inidesignstudio #initiatewithini #architecture #design #urbanism

✨✨✨✨✨ ✨ Materializing Time Through Light : Shivalik High-Street commercial tower In 2014, the Shivalik High-Street tower lit up, redefining Ahmedabad’s skyline with its captivating presence. Standing 36 meters tall, this mixed-use commercial tower dominates a prestigious shopping avenue, connecting architecture, light, and its surrounding inhabitants. Our vision: to materialize #visualtime through every architectural project in Ahmedabad. For Shivalik, we designed pixel-controllable media lines, discreetly integrated beneath the window ledges. These refined, elegant lines mark the hours with subtle twinkling lights, infusing the city with luminous poetry. Through this luminous dialogue with its immediate surroundings, the tower becomes a #visuallandmark and an #urbanicon. On festive days, the lines come alive in dynamic patterns, reinforcing Ahmedabad’s vibrant spirit. 🔗 Explore the project on our website: https://lnkd.in/ew44GAYp 👤 Client: Shivalik Group 💡 Lighting Design: Atelier dada 🏛 Architect: INI Design Studio #Atelierdada #conceptionlumiere #lightingdesign #DynamicLighting #MediaArchitecture #UrbanLighting #lightmagic

  • Word of the Week: Tectonics Tectonics is the art and science of construction, particularly the expressive potential of building materials and assembly techniques. At INI, the fusion of structure, material, and design is at the core of our architectural philosophy. This approach creates environments that are both functional and visually compelling, blending engineering expertise with artistic expression. Across our projects, tectonics overcomes technical challenges, crafts innovative spaces, and leaves a lasting impact on users. Dishman Pharma's headquarters showcases tectonic design by integrating material honesty, structural expression, and functional aesthetics. The sloping columns, resembling a cradle lifting the building, highlight the concrete's strength while visually lightening the structure. Insulated zinc panels and low-emission glazing address the harsh climate while showcasing the materials’ aesthetic and practical potential. The sculpted façade, angular frontal bands, and green terraces blend the built environment with the outdoors, creating framed views and enhancing spatial experience. This unified design embodies the principle of ‘form follows function,’ merging material, structure, and purpose seamlessly. The Jindal Center in Gurugram exemplifies tectonic design through structural clarity, material honesty, and expressive form. The three wings, symbolizing Jindal Group entities, rise from a shared base with inclined glazed façades emphasizing horizontality and revealing structural logic. High-performance glazing and composite panels enhance energy efficiency while maintaining aesthetic integrity. Interstitial glazed atria foster connections and fill interiors with natural light, creating a dynamic relationship between structure and space. This approach integrates form and function, distinguishing the building within the corporate tower typology. The Lucknow Cancer Institute subtly integrates tectonic principles through a context-driven approach. A central "bazaar street" acts as a healing connector, fostering collaboration among patients, families, and caregivers while leading to a healing garden. Key buildings are linked by "bridging fingers" at upper levels, enhancing connectivity and spatial experience. The "Navrachana Kendra" or Discovery Hub at the entrance serves as a hub for innovation, housing shared facilities like an auditorium, cafeteria, and conference spaces. This design reflects tectonics by harmonizing form, function, and spatial organization to meet both the site’s needs and the institute's purpose. Through projects like Dishman Pharma's Headquarters, Lucknow Cancer Institute, and Jindal Center, INI demonstrates how tectonics shapes architecture's narrative. Every material, structural system, and design element is thoughtfully integrated to meet technical demands while inspiring users. At INI, we transform challenges into opportunities, creating spaces that embody innovation, sustainability, and artistry.
