Fundraising is tough, no doubt. But knowing where to focus makes all the difference. Stephen R. Covey explains this with the Circle of Concern and the Circle of Influence. The Circle of Concern includes everything we worry about but can’t control—external factors, opinions, or circumstances. The Circle of Influence, on the other hand, focuses on what we can control—our reactions, decisions, and, most importantly, our respons-ability—our ability to respond. And that’s where the real power lies. When we take responsibility, we become proactive, shaping outcomes rather than just reacting to them. Now, here’s something even more interesting—our vocabulary plays a huge role in shaping our mindset and perspective. It all comes down to Haves vs. BEs. I will be happy when I have a good boss. I will be productive if the city has fewer rainy days. See the pattern? The Circle of Concern is full of Haves—things we wait for, conditions we wish would change. But the Circle of Influence? That’s where the BEs live: I can be patient. I can be wise, resilient, and driven—no matter the circumstances. So, where do you want to put your energy? You decide. Because the right focus changes everything. #facetoface #7habitsofhighlyeffectivepeople #KafalCanvassing #Leadership #individualgiving #india

Whoop whoop! When the founders step out, the game changes—and we're here to break ceilings, not just records. Shoutout to our powerhouse Co-founder, Mehrunisa, who just smashed it last month, landing KAFAL its biggest donation of the year—and did it straight off the streets. Yes, the streets! That's next-level grit and passion. Her mantra? "Dream big, aim bigger, and crush it. Do things right most of the time, and the wins will find you." And she's leading by example, carving a path for others to think bold and go all in. This is us. Kafal Canvassing, Version 2.0. We don’t just play the game—we rewrite the rules. Let’s go! #kafal #savethechildren #Individualgiving #streetfundraising #facetoface

While all the for-profit companies are constantly coming up with new ways to attract Gen Z, nonprofits, apart from giving them opportunities to volunteer, are basically doing nothing at all to capture this massive potential market. We're still signing up people over their 30s and beyond! Sure, nonprofits have their reasons, with data backing up that older donors are legit long-term supporters. But completely ignoring Gen Z as part of the donor base? That’s just missing the boat! Yes, some charities visit colleges, run awareness programs, and organize field trips—great stuff—but that’s just a handful of organizations, especially in India. Let’s face it: in India, this segment is larger than the entire population of the USA, and as the article below shows, Gen Z knows how to spend their money (and boy, do they love to!). So, apart from awareness drives and field visits, if we ever want to reel them into the donor base, we’d start them off with the smallest possible commitment, nurture them with emails, regular updates, and program visits over the next year or two. This segment could open up heaps of opportunities for nonprofits in India. Who knows, we might just turn them from "broke students" into lifelong philanthropists. Worth a shot, right? #india #nonprofit #Genz #donorbase #kafalcanvassing #regulargiving #fundraising

Challenges Facing Indian Nonprofits: A Wake-Up Call 🚨 1:- 🧑🔧 Attracting Skilled Talent: Universal struggle to attract highly skilled professionals. Aside from UN agencies, it's rare to see talented individuals gravitating toward this sector. Low salaries and the work environment often play a role in this talent gap. 2:- 🤒 Weak Individual Giving Strategies: Many NGOs have underdeveloped or no strategies to engage individual donors. This leads to missed opportunities and, at times, awkward interactions with potential supporters. It’s an area that needs urgent focus. 3:- 💁 Over-reliance on CSR Funding: With 2% of corporate profits directed toward CSR by law, many nonprofits have grown dependent on these funds. One can't help but wonder—if this legal requirement didn’t exist, how many would survive? Some corporations have even started their own nonprofit arms, further narrowing the pool of available funds. 4:- 🕵️♂️ Transparency Issues: Transparency remains a significant challenge. Many organizations lack openness, making it harder for the average person to trust and engage with them. This opacity often drives individuals to support smaller, local causes, like nearby orphanages or old age homes. 5:- ☹️ Donor Management Failures: Poor donor engagement is another problem. Many nonprofits rely on the same set of donors year after year without properly acknowledging their contributions. The focus seems to be on securing funds, rather than building lasting relationships. 6:- 💲Limited Investment in Fundraiser Development: Fundraisers often go years without meaningful professional growth or compensation adjustments, leading to low morale. The lack of training and development further exacerbates the issue, making it harder to retain and attract talent. It’s high time for the Indian nonprofit sector to take a hard look in the mirror. The challenges ahead are more significant than ever, and a single policy shift could drastically impact the landscape. Nonprofits must prioritize donor engagement, transparency, and investment in people if they want to remain sustainable. Now is the moment to act, to nurture donor bases, and to invest in face-to-face engagement before it’s too late. ⏰ #KafalCanvassing #IndividualGiving #India #NGOs #WakeUpCall

The Never-Ending Debate: Ah, the eternal debate over charity spending on fundraising, marketing, and those elusive CEO salaries. It’s like the Stone Age thinking just never gets old, right? So, let's break it down for you. 1. Yes, We Get Paid:- Believe it or not, we do get paid. No one hands us free vegetables to cook, apartments to live in, or gasoline for our cars just because we work for a nonprofit organization. Shocking, I know. 2. Educated and Dedicated:- We went to top-tier universities too. And had invested thousands of dollars on our education. We could have chosen to work anywhere we wanted. But look at us, working day and night to make the world a better place for you and your grandkids. You're welcome. 3. Good Deeds and Enjoying Life:- Why shouldn't someone doing the right thing be allowed to enjoy life? Do you really think the only way to do good work is to become a monk, or give up on having family or children? Seriously? 4. The Ethical Dilemma:- If we could, we'd bring the children we help right to your doorstep so you could see the impact of our work. Unfortunately, we can't do that due to ethical reasons. But have you ever considered what nonprofits or governments are actually doing for social causes? 5. The Unwanted Appeal:- Why are you guys always asking for money?" Oh, we wish we didn't have to call or see you, too sir/ma’am. We'd rather just invest our money in the stock market and wait for long-term gains. We have zero interest in seeing your grumpy face as well. And that too again and again. Just so you could yell at us. 6. Big Corporations and Tax Breaks:- "Why don't you ask the big corporations?" Oh, you didn’t know? They've already started their own causes to save on taxes. And, of course, in your eyes, they become the world's saviors. Meanwhile, we've been tackling social issues for centuries, many of which exist because of those very corporations. If we ever meet the genius who wrote the book on governing nonprofits, let's just say it would be an interesting conversation. Hats Off to Fundraisers ♥️ Best wishes to all the fundraisers out there. Your resilience and love for what you do make you who you are! #fundraising #facetoface #nonprofit #kafalcanvassing

The great Indian NGO downsizing is real! #fundraising #india #nonprofitsector
This recent article on Times, highlites the downturn faced by Indian NGOs. With foreign funding dwindling and domestic procedures becoming more complex, many non-profits have had to reduce activities and lay off staff. This impacts both humanitarian and rights-based work, striking at the heart of their mission. The sector faces a gradual erosion of support, threatening its very existence. This has severe implications for countless beneficiaries and professionals dedicated to non-profit work. I remember, how during COVID-19, India's Giving Index ranking improved, but this momentum has since stalled, highlighting the need for sustained support. NGOs now need more backing from the government, corporates, and individuals than ever before. I believe, only by working together towards shared goals, we can ensure that non-profits continue to serve those in need, fostering a more equitable and supportive society. #supportthecause #supportnonprofit #supporttheonesmakingrealdifference #kafalcanvassing
