About us
The Ministry of Coal has the overall responsibility of determining policies and strategies in respect of exploration and development of coal and lignite reserves, sanctioning of important projects of high value and for deciding all related issues. Under the administrative control of the Ministry, these key functions are exercised through the Public Sector Undertakings, namely, Coal India Ltd. and its subsidiaries and Neyveli Lignite corporation India Limited (NLCIL). Other than Coal India Ltd. and Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Ltd., the Ministry of Coal also has a joint venture with Government of Telangana called Singareni Collieries Company Limited. Government of Telangana holds 51% equity and Government of India holds 49 % equity.

Shri Marapally Venkateshwarlu, Director (Technical), Ministry of Coal, visited the Barjea Eco-Park, Nigahi on Friday. He appreciated the scenic beauty of the pond situated within the Bareja Eco-Park & commended the Environmental Sustainability initiative. As part of the "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam" campaign, Shri Venkateshwarlu also planted trees at Bareja Eco- Park. He applauded NCL for the innovative use of Mines Water to create Eco-Park and to promote Eco-Tourism in the region. He further acknowledged the Sculpture, Tree House and other things created from waste under 'Waste to Wealth' in the Bareja Eco-Park. On Friday, Shri Marapally Venkateshwarlu, Director (Technical) at the Ministry of Coal, along with Shri Manish Kumar, Director (Personnel), and Shri Jitendra Malik, Director (Technical/Operations), visited the Amlohri Area of NCL. During the visit, Shri Marapally Venkateshwarlu reviewed the achievements of the Swachhata Hi Seva Campaign and inspected ongoing activities under the Special Campaign 4.0. He also inaugurated a new web portal aimed at ensuring transparency and simplifying the TA/DA bill process for employees. He expressed appreciation for the Peacock Sculpture, crafted from waste materials as part of the "Waste to Wealth" initiative. Shri Venkateshwarlu emphasized the importance of active participation from all NCL employees in the Swachhata Campaign to ensure its success. Additionally, during his visit, Shri Venkateshwarlu took part in a Swachhata Shramdaan and also distributed prizes to Sawachhata Sipahi to promote cleanliness and raise awareness about maintaining hygiene among people.
