Sustainable partnerships: Project Mumbai proudly partnered with the US Consulate the MMRDA, and the Regional Passport Office to create a first of its kind initiative providing benches from recycled plastic (plastic waste donated by Mumbaikars) to be installed across BKC--and which would benefit the thousands of visa applicants who otherwise have to spend hours in the sun, with no appropriate seating. 70 benches are being placed across BKC as part of the first phase and Project Mumbai plans to add many more. U.S. Consul General Mike Hankey Mike Hankey, along with the Chief of the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), and other prominentstakeholders, inaugurated the benches during a ceremony held on Monday, October 7. US Consulate Consul General Hankey noted that these benches are not just logistical upgrades but a commitment to supporting the thousands of visa applicants and their families. “This project represents more than just an elevation of facilities. It’s a collaboration that reflects our commitment to improving the visa application process while aligning with the U.S. Mission’s goals of urban waste management and sustainability,” he said. The U.S. Consulate and the Indian Regional Passport Office process thousands of applicants daily in BKC. Visa applicants and their families often wait outside the facilities until their appointment times. The installation of these 70 benches is designed to enhance comfort and improve the overall experience for applicants while benefiting neighboring businesses and institutions. #projectmumbai #ngowork #plasticwaste #usvisa #usconsulate #recycledbenches #plasticrecycledbenches #plasticfreemumbai #ngosofmumbai

Sustainability and positive change--How can citizens benefit through public private people partnerships? We Project Mumbai tell you how. What started off as a conversation between US Consul General in Mumbai, #mikehankey of usconsulate generalmumbai and me on how to ease the stress of the thousands of citizens-young and old-- waiting in the scorching heat for their visa applications soon had Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) commissioner @Dr.SanjayMukherjee and the @MEA in Mumbai led by #RajeshGavande join in. The images we see are of the magical impact that a conversation can lead to. In one of the images, Mike proudly showcases the benches on the lawns of his residence where we kicked off this partnership. In another, the three of us, at one of the publicly placed benches, expressing the solidarity. Earlier this week and soon after the formal launch, Project Mumbai installed 75 benches made from recycled plastic--plastic waste donated by citizens which we have prevented from going into landfill--along the kerb at #bkc. These would be the first of the 200 plus that we intend placing. For those not in the know, Project Mumbai's The Project Mumbai Plastic and E waste Recyclothon now inspires lakhs of #Mumbaikars to donate their plastic waste-hundreds of tons which we prevent from going into a landfill. #Benches in public spaces, #pencilboxes and even recycled plastic walking tracks to create zero waste gardens are being created by Project Mumbai.

Here’s what went down at our first day of Hamara Station, Hamari Shaan - an initiative by Project Mumbai supported by Central Railway! The event was kicked off by actor and environmentalist Dia Mirza at Sewri Station and the station master while the other stations were started off with a brush stroke by their respective station masters as a sign of respect towards their service to all of us! Hundreds of students and corporate employees, registered with Project Mumbai were also seen beautifying other stations including King Circle, Chuna Bhatti and Tilak nagar during the day. The day saw scores of young energetic students earnestly painting the walls through beautiful artwork while Sewri and Tilak nagar station saw a young music volunteer, Neel Kadam, bring his guitar and sing for the artists. “I cannot draw but I can play the guitar and sing, this is my way of volunteering and showing my support to Project Mumbai and DaanUtsav”, he said. There is a kindness bone in each one of us and it is a beautiful feeling when you display it for your own city. Kuchh Pal Apney Sheher Ke Liye—a bit of your time for your city is what we at Project Mumbai are working on to make your urban environment better as well as make Mumbai the country’s Kindness capital”, said Shishir Joshi, founder and CEO of Project Mumbai. Our aim with the initiative ‘Hamara Station, Hamari Shaan’ was not just to beautify and revamp the railway stations but also to bring the communities together and inculcate in them a sense of ownership towards their stations and surroundings! If you’re someone who missed out on being the part of our day 1 of the station painting, you don’t have to worry. We have some more stations lined up for all of you!! DM us or WhatsApp on 9653330712 to register your spot for the upcoming events! . . . . . . . . . #projectmumbai #shishirjoshi #diamirza #hamarastationhamarishaan #hshs #stationpainting #daanutsav #weekofgiving #joyofgiving #mumbaiartist #artistsofmumbai #mumbaikar #aamchimumbai #nssmumbai #volunteeringinmumbai #ngosofmumbai #wallartmumbai #mumbaistreetart #mumbaiart

India's largest citizen led public art kicks off🤩🤩 Actor Dia Mirza Dia Mirza rolled up her sleeves on Wednesday and spent a long time beautifying the walls of Sewri railway station, also kicking off Hamara Station Hamari Shaan, India's largest citizen-led public art initiative launched by NGO Project Mumbai. Dia said she was excited to beautify Mumbai, not just giving her own time for the city but also introducing her daughter Samaira to volunteering with Project Mumbai-- celebrating the Festival of Giving DaanUtsav as well as Gandhi Jayanti. "Ownership of the city through volunteering work cannot be a better way of doing shramdaan and painting is anyways so addictive", Dia said, talking to the hundreds of students who had gathered there to volunteer their time. Hamara Station Hamari Shaan by Project Mumbai is in partnership with Central Railway, wherein 13 stations, several thousand feet of space, will be beautified through art work. As part of the initiative, Project Mumbai has identified all paintable areas across these stations including the ticket counters, walls along platform one, walls outside the stations, foot over bridges as well as the staircases. There have been designs planned and approved by the combined team of railways and Project Mumbai to ensure sensitivities as well as aesthetics and kept in mind. "We are so excited to see our station get spruced up, especially with the energy and colour brought by youngsters", remarked Ms. Meena, Station Master of King Circle Station, who has been personally monitoring the station work with the Project Mumbai team. The initiative will continue till October 15. Citizens and corporates can register to volunteer as individuals or groups through the Project Mumbai website www.projectmumbai.org or on volunteer@projectmumbai.org. The entire paint, gloves, brushes etc are being provided free of cost by the Project Mumbai team. . . . . . . . . #ngosofmumbai #hamarastationhamarishaan #hshs #shishirjoshi #diamirza #volunteeringinmumbai #stationpainting #daanutsav #weekofgiving #mumbaiwallart #mumbaistation #centralrailway #wallartmumbai #mumbaievents #projectmumbai
