The Government of Maharashtra has recently announced the “The Maharashtra Stamp Duty Amnesty Scheme-2023”. This amnesty scheme is in order to remit or reduce stamp duty and the penalty payable on instruments as specified in the order including any document related to Conveyance, Agreement to Sell, Lease, Gift etc. of immovable property executed between 1st January, 1980 and 31st December, 2020. The scheme is in two phases from 1st December, 2023 upto 31st March, 2024 only. The rates of reduction in stamp duty and penalty are date & phase wise as per the Order.
