About us

Solar Energy Corporation of India Ltd. (SECI) is a CPSU under the administrative control of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), set up on 20th September 2011 to facilitate the implementation of NSM and achievement of targets set therein. It is the only CPSU dedicated to the solar energy sector. However, through a Government of India decision, the company has recently been converted into a Section-3 company under the Companies Act, 2013. The mandate of the company has also been broadened to cover the entire renewable energy domain. In the present outlook of the RE sector, especially solar energy, SECI has a major role to play in the sector’s development. The company is responsible for implementation of a number of schemes of MNRE, major ones being the VGF schemes for large-scale grid-connected projects under JNNSM, solar park scheme and grid-connected solar rooftop scheme, alongwith a host of other specialized schemes such as defence scheme, canal-top scheme, Indo-Pak border scheme etc. In addition, SECI has ventured into solar project development on turnkey basis for several PSUs. The company also has a power-trading license and is active in this domain through trading of solar power from projects set up under the schemes being implemented by it.

  • SECI bagged the Greentech Corporate Communication and Public Relations Award for displaying innovation in its Corporate Communications and Public Relations campaigns. Through its various Corporate Communication activities, SECI is able to showcase its legacy of leading the RE sector and its contributions in fulfilling the nation’s RE targets. The award was conferred in a ceremony on 09th January 2025 and was received by Shri Joshit Ranjan Sikidar, Director (Finance), Shri Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power System) and Shri A K Sinha, GM (Corporate Planning/HR&Admin). Such achievements are a testament to SECI’s persistence and hard work which has led it to becoming one of the youngest Navratna CPSEs.

  • To promote team building, interdepartmental coordination and better work-life balance, SECI is organizing a series of cricket matches with its industry peers. In this series, a friendly match was held between SECI & Ministry of Power. Leading the scoreboard with 110/8, SECI emerged as the winning team in today’s match where MoP was almost there with 104/10. Both teams displayed excellent team spirit and made the match a close fight. Both teams displayed their skills & sportsmanship while engaging in some friendly competition on the pitch.

  • SECI bagged the 3rd PSU Transformation Award under the “Innovative Product Development” category for 'Firm and Dispatchable RE (FDRE) Supply to DISCOMs on a Demand Following Basis'.   • Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI), a Navratna CPSU signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 20th November 2024 with the Government of Rajasthan during the ongoing Rising Rajasthan Investor Meet in Jaipur for investment in Renewables till 2030. The MoU was signed in the presence of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Shri Bhajan Lal Sharma, Hon’ble Minister Shri Heeralal Nagar, Additional Chief Secretary (Energy Department) Shri Alok, senior officials of the Government of Rajasthan, Shri RP Gupta, CMD SECI, Shri Sivakumar V Vepakomma, Director (Power Systems) and Shri Ajay Kumar Sinha, General Manager (Corporate Planning and Business Development). This ambitious six-year plan aims to support Rajasthan's transformation into a power surplus state, providing 24/7 clean, affordable, and reliable power supply with investments in renewable energy projects and manufacturing. This MoU involves comprehensive investment across the power value chain, from generation to manufacturing of RE equipments, as well as cutting-edge renewable energy projects across the state, including solar, wind, hybrid, and battery energy storage systems (BESS). By enabling Rajasthan to tap into its immense solar potential, SECI is not only supporting the State but also positioning India as a global leader in clean energy. SECI has already established a significant footprint in Rajasthan, with a robust portfolio of energy projects. This initiative is a marker of SECI’s commitment to accelerate India’s transition to a carbon-neutral economy, contributing to the nation’s ambitious goal of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel energy by 2030.

  • SECI signed a MoU with H2Global Stiftung to establish a collaborative framework to promote GH2 initiatives. This aims to enhance knowledge exchange on market-based mechanisms and foster cooperation between India and importing countries, thereby contributing to the global advancement of the green hydrogen economy. The MoU was signed by Shri Sanjay Sharma, Director (Solar), SECI, and Dr. Susana Moreira, Executive Director, H2Global, on 19th November 2024 in the esteemed presence of Mr Timo Bollerhey, CEO (HintCo), Mr Markus Exenberger, Executive Director (H2 Global Foundation), Shri Prashant Kumar Singh, Secretary (MNRE), Shri Abhay Bhakare, Mission Director (NGHM), Dr Prasad Chapekar, DS (MNRE) and Shri K R Jyothi Lal, ACS Kerala. This collaboration offers India the opportunity to work on joint tender design concepts, particularly in structuring joint tenders that aligns with India’s ambition to become export hub of Green Hydrogen and its derivatives. The cooperation may provide valuable insights into global hydrogen market dynamics, including trade logistics and stakeholder engagement, which can be instrumental in furthering India’s green hydrogen initiatives.
