𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐀'𝐬 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐇𝟏 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞: 𝟑𝟎𝟑% 𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐨𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝟓𝟔% 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐬𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has reported a remarkable performance in the first half of FY 2024-25. As per provisional figures up to September 30, 2024, IREDA has registered an impressive 303% growth in loan sanctions, surging to ₹17,860 crore compared to ₹4,437 crore during the same period in FY 2023-24. The company’s loan disbursements also saw significant growth, increasing by 56% to ₹9,787 crore, compared to ₹6,273 crore as of September 30, 2023. Also, the loan book outstanding stood at ₹64,500 crore, a growth of 36% from ₹47,514 crore in the previous year. Commenting on the performance, Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA, said, “This exceptional growth underscores our firm commitment to driving India’s renewable energy goals. IREDA’s strong financial results highlight the increasing demand for clean energy financing and our dedication to supporting the green energy transition. By announcing these provisional figures on the last day of the first half of the financial year, we continue to uphold the highest standards of corporate governance. The event was graced by Shri Pradip Kumar Das, Chairman & Managing Director, IREDA and participated by children from SEWA-DHAM Plus. Addressing the students, Shri Pradip Kumar Das emphasized the crucial role of environmental protection and cleanliness in building a sustainable future. He said, “IREDA is committed to promoting sustainable development and contributing to a cleaner and greener India. We believe that our youth are the future of our nation, and their involvement in environmental conservation is essential for a healthier and more prosperous tomorrow.” IREDA organized a tree plantation drive, "Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam," and an awareness session for school children on renewable energy. Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, and the children planted saplings symbolizing environmental protection. The children with IREDA officials also took the Swachhata Pledge to keep their surroundings clean. A slogan writing competition on "Swachhata Hi Seva 2024" encouraged creativity, with winners awarded for impactful slogans. During the discussion, Shri Das highlighted IREDA's pioneering role in making emerging renewable energy technologies like Ethanol, Electric Mobilities, Battery Storage, Pumped Storage, Floating Solar, Green Hydrogen, and Green Ammonia, etc. bankable. He emphasized the importance of adopting the "DAS" principle- Discipline of investors, Attitude of lenders, and Simplification of policies by the central-state governments and regulatory bodies like RBI and SEBI, etc. By following this principle, IREDA has realigned its processes, contributing to India’s ambitious target of achieving 500 GW of non-fossil energy by 2030. Shri Das also underlined that IREDA aims to facilitate foreign-currency loans for export-oriented developers through its subsidiary, IREDA Global Green Energy Finance IFSC Limited, at GIFT City, Gujarat. These loans will help developers save 250-350 basis points on hedging costs, making green hydrogen and related derivatives more competitive in global markets. IREDA and PNB have already signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly lend for renewable energy projects. During the meeting, both leaders emphasized the need for their organizations to play a greater role in meeting the growing financing needs of the renewable energy sector. They discussed strategies for strengthening this partnership to align with the Government of India's vision of achieving ambitious renewable energy targets. Discussions also included lending by PNB to IREDA at a cheaper rate, as well as joint lending with IREDA for large-scale renewable energy projects, ensuring more competitive financing for the sector. Shri Pradip Kumar Das, CMD, IREDA said, "The renewable energy sector in India is expanding at an unprecedented rate, and the demand for financing is growing rapidly.
