The government continues to make business easier for startups with key regulatory and tax reforms. The startup incorporation period is extended by five years, allowing benefits for startups registered before 1st April 2030. Fast-track mergers will be further simplified for quicker approvals, while a High-Level Committee for Regulatory Reforms will review and streamline non-financial sector regulations. A new, detailed Income Tax regime will soon be introduced, making compliance easier and fostering a more startup-friendly environment. With these reforms, startups can focus on scaling their innovations without regulatory hurdles. Innovation takes centre stage with bold initiatives to fuel the startup landscape. 50,000 Atal Tinkering Labs will be set up in government schools over the next five years. A ₹20,000 Cr allocation will drive private sector-led innovation, alongside a Deep-Tech Fund of Funds and 10,000 fellowships for tech research at IITs and IISc. A National Digital Repository will facilitate knowledge sharing, while IIT infrastructure expansion will add 6,500 new seats. A Centre of Excellence for AI in Education, a ₹20,000 Cr Nuclear Energy Mission, and a ₹1 lakh Cr Urban Challenge Fund will further transform India’s innovation ecosystem. The Union Budget strengthens India’s startup ecosystem with a significant boost in funding and support. The Fund of Funds for Startups receives an additional ₹10,000 Cr, reinforcing the ₹91,000 Cr committed by AIFs. Credit guarantee cover for startups is doubled from ₹10 Cr to ₹20 Cr, ensuring better financial security. A dedicated Deep-Tech Fund of Funds has been introduced to propel next-generation startups. Additionally, a new scheme will provide term loans of up to ₹2 Cr for five years, empowering 5 lakh first-time women entrepreneurs from SC/ST communities, fostering inclusivity and innovation.
