I recently went back home for the festive season and naturally, fought with my mother on the very first day. She had scrubbed every corner of the house before I arrived just so I could enter a spotless home. All the bedrooms, bathrooms, couches, appliances, window rails. And while it was the sweetest gesture, I couldn’t overlook how tired this made her. She pushed herself beyond the point of exhaustion and ended up losing so much time not feeling her best. One might ask- is it her fault, or her conditioning’s? But over time, I’ve come to realize that knowing when to offload, isn’t a weakness; it’s wisdom. Come the festive season, with guests and relatives visiting, this is the story of every Indian household. And before you know it, your mental load takes the shape of “Dimaag ka dahi.” We took the phrase and made it literal- a yogurt cup that promises “rishton mein khataas” because of tensions like missing domestic help during a cleaning-intensive period, the need to have a decked-up house, and the pressure of looking your best when you’re not even remotely feeling your best. When you work in advertising, you inherently bond with your clients. Much of weeks and months are spent together. Then there are those dream brands that you’ll chance upon, quite unexpectedly. For me, that’s Sephora. So when Sephora APAC reached out to Talented in our DMs to create a Diwali campaign, this makeup-loving Sephora fangirl was over the moon 💖 Conceptualised end-to-end by Talented, the festive campaign is a global partnership between teams in Singapore and India. With this campaign, we wanted to celebrate the spirit of modern Indian beauty, spotlighting trends we’ve all been loving – from vibrant flushed cheeks and bold lips to eye-catching, intricate makeup. But more importantly, this campaign challenges the notion that makeup should be "age-appropriate". Beauty is ageless, and self-expression through makeup should have no bounds 🌈 It was a joy to showcase women across generations – Gen Z, Millennials, and Gen X – each embracing the latest trends in their own way. By celebrating diversity, we’re hoping to reflect the real beauty of Indian women in a world that often leans towards overly polished, airbrushed ideals.  Using a design-first approach, we recreated the warmth and vibrancy of the festive season, pairing glowing hues with subtle details that enhance and celebrate each makeup look. This collaboration between Sephora APAC and Talented didn’t come without learning curves. We still joke about a few silly things that escalated too quickly but resolved after a few laughs. This was an experience I’ll always hold close to my heart, for all the moments, learnings, and magic along the way. Most campaign work reflects in our portfolios but some find a place in your hearts, and makeup vanity, in this case! Big shoutout to everyone who made this campaign possible & beautiful!
